M.I.A. has a rep for being subversive, like many other singers before her.
Whenever I encounter brouhaha over song lyrics, I remember John Lennon, and his attitude, which was, no you berks, the lyrics don't always mean anything, and quite obsessing over it! (no doubt an extremely inaccurate paraphrase)
