Questions about the date:

This is what I'm asking about.

I asked her on the date, and I'm taking her out. Paying all that, unless she expresses a wish to go Dutch. The thing is, she's a vegan. (For those who don't know: Eats no animals products at all, ex: milk, eggs.) So should I let her choose a place she's eaten at and will know the menu, or should I try to find a resturuant I think will work? Anything will work for me, and I could use a few more veggies in my diet anyways.
Second thing: We have previously discussed our diets and she knows I'm a meat eater. I'm type O blood, kinda is a necessity for me. On the date though should I give in to my carnivorous appetite, or stick to the veggies like prey food? She doesn't seem to be offended by meat, she just personally chooses not to eat it.
Last thing, for now: Pants or a casual dress?

Firstly, I'd say begin as you mean to go on. If you don't intend to go vegan, even if this date turns into a relationship, then just have whatever you think looks good on the menu.

Secondly, if you know a good restaraunt you want to take her to, just give them a call and ask if they have a vegan menu or at least options. Most restaraunts do cater for weird food choices and/or allergies these days. Well over here they do anyway.

nb. I say weird because I really think vegans are weird. I mean seriously, how can anyone not like a good piece of meat every now and then?

I dated a vegan for a bit, she was cool about me sticking to my meat and potatoes diet when we went out somewhere. Def. not a bad idea to call ahead and ask what vegan dishes the place offers, and make sure they are differentiating between vegan and vegetarian. One place that worked great was a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern place that served all kinds of vegan, vege, and regular dishes. As a suggestion, I would avoid getting a dripping red steak and do something with diced chicken in it. Or try an Oriental place and give tofu a whirl in a stir fry dish with lo mein and broccoli, it's actually pretty good.

Doing the research to find a restaurant that caters to vegans would be a big plus on the scorecard and help to keep her relaxed and comfortable. If you cant find one then let her choose the place.

I dont think it matters much what you choose to eat, but if you go to a specialty restaurant (For vegans ? Is there such a thing?) it would be nice to be like 'when in Rome'.

Casual dress!

I'd think of a few good places I like and call ahead to check their menus, and then give her the option to choose one or the other.

For what you decide to order, I'd probably go with a chicken or fish dish, depending on what you like.

This one is supposed to be vegan and should work...any thoughts?

I've been looking up restaurant menus online, I could call around too I guess, but the website usually have enough info.

Hmm....well it depends on how you want to come off.

If you don't know much about veganism and vegan culture and would like to learn from her, that means admitting to her that you know shit ATM, I would confess my ignorance and ask her to pick a good place and then ask a lot of questions about veganism there. This will create good conversation, even if you are just nodding your head and asking questions, and will allow her to share something she loves and has knowledge of to you. This is assuming she is proud of her veganism. If she isn't, then it might annoy her to really hound the subject so test the waters. I personally would do this.

If you want to impress her on your knowledge of veganism, heavily research everything you can about veganism, look at reviews, and hope you pick a good restaurant. This is a bit fake IMO, and I wouldn't do this unless you are either trying to play a dominance role or actually know a lot about veganism. This tends to backfire because if she finds out you really don't know much about veganism and pretending you do just to impress her, don't expect it to end well.

Also, if you are not a vegan and have no interest in vegan food I would recommend going to the restaurant with a little bit in your stomach so if you really don't like what you order, make sure you at least order something though, you are not really hungry for the rest of the night and make her watch you eat later.

Good questions include:

1) Can you consume human breast milk?
1a)What if it's in a play scenario?

2) Have you hit the point where your liver has no more B12 saved up?
2a) How long have you been at this?
2b) Oh so there's still time then.

3) Do you shit like 7 times a day?
3a) Do you get cramps all the time?

4) Does it make your, you know, "private area" smell different?
4a) Better or worse?
4b) How do you know?

5) If you're in a room with half vegans, half regular eaters, can you identify the vegans? Is it because they're all peaked and sickly-looking?

6) Have you gotten a set of baseline tests to figure out what the true impact to your health is?

7) Is it vegan to eat me if I decide that it's ok to cut off my limbs and cook them?
7a) If so, how do you know a beast doesn't *want* to give its life in order to sustain higher life? That would be a very moral position for a cow to take.

8) Do you get regular periods?

I'd let her pick the restaurant & not eat meat in front of her. Show her you are sensitive to her feelings/choices.

UT, that was wrong, so wrong. But, I laughed my ass off

Good advice, pierce. I know what being a vegan is, but I don't know why she is. She is the expert, she even gives cooking lessons! I'm starting to feel a bit out of my element . I think I would feel a bit odd eating meat in front of her, but we have already discussed this, and she's not offended by meat, just doesn't eat it.
UT, I'll keep those questions in mind when I meet a die-hard moral vegan. She's pretty laid-back so I don't think those questions would have much impact.
I don't know Sheldon, but if I get the chance to find out, I'll let you know.

The date has been postponed, a new day has not been settled on. Hopefully next weekend.
