The Police and Elvis Costello

Saw 'em tonight at Sprint Center here in KC. I am still having eargasms. Truly spectacular, tons of music virtually everything you could have hoped for from both groups. Costello's group, the Imposters, is the Attractions with a different bass player, and his set was total 80's glory days throwback, including the new stuff they did, which was *very* much in that same classic vein. Costello's sound production left much to be desired, but the energy was great, the song selection superb.

The Police totally owned the place, though. Stunning, much as they were back in the day (from the videos I've seen, anyway...this was my first time to see them live). My *single* regret of the night is that they did not perform Synchronicity Part 2. Pity. But they pretty much did anything else one might hope to hear in a 1.75 hour set.

If you get a chance, go see them. Really. It rocked. Seriously rocked.

Fuck yeah. Elvis and the Attractions are awesome. I don't like Elvis and the Imposters as much, but that's basically just speaking to how freaking sweet the Elvis and the Attractions era was.

My mom-in-law saw Elvis with Bob Dylan last fall...I was hella pissed. It was apparently a great show.

I saw the Stingmeister solo some years ago. Good musicians, of course.

I'd pass up the chance to see the Police in order to see Elvis Costello again. Damn the man can write.

I do love Sting's voice, just not enough of a fan of the Police to enjoy a whole concert.

I've seen Sting before...in the "Mercury Falling" tour (95?) But I would love to someday see Elvis. He is my hero.

Tryin to find The Other Side of Summer for you, I stumbled upon this one. Bloody hell, it's Harry Enfield! I never saw this video at the time, despite knowing the whole album (Spike) by heart.

And here I thought "What the fuck has he gotten into this time?"

He is one of the best songwriters of some generation.
