The Champions league winner is the #1 ranked team in Europe. Period.
The Finalist would be #2, and so fourth.

If PSV won the CL, they would be the #1 ranked team in Europe, and respectivly in Holland.
Even if PSV were to be relegated in their local competition, they would clearly and undoubtably be ranked Holland's #1 team.
The same applies for Italy, England, Germany, Spain, etc etc.

We'll use this year as a scenario...

Say Liverpool beats Man Utd in the Champions league final.

The rankings for English teams would be:

1)Liverpool (Ranked #1 in Europe)
2)Man Utd (Ranked #2 in Europe)
3)Chelsea (Ranked in top 4 in Europe)
4)Arsenal (Ranked in top 8 in Europe)

There are no opinions in rankings.
They are what they are.

Englands teams can only match what Italian teams achieved, having both Champion league finalists, and 3 of the 4 semi-finalists.
All this of course, in a rare year where Italy's Queen Juventus is not in the competition
..... She shall return to her throne.

Juventus vs AC.Milan

It might take a litle while for you to get used to it, but Juventus is superior to Milan.
At home, they should win.

Bet on Juventus = 2.20

Liverpool vs Blackburn

Blackburn is really one of the best teams in England!
It took them this year to gel....watch out for them next year!
Liverpool is concentrating on more serious things than this silly competition.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Chicago Cubs

Its Hamels vs Lilly.
Hamels no doubt will become an absolute elite pitcher in the Major leagues. He's not there yet.
Low scoring game. The price is to die for.

Seattle Mariners vs Los Angelos Angels

Its Silva against Garland.
I got to watch Garland this year, and I can say that the man is as safe a pitcher can be.
What can anyone say about this Angels line-up?

Montreal Canadiens vs Boston Bruins

I obviously would like Montreal to get through this in 4 games, but I cannot underestimate this Bruins team as I believe most are.
The price is too good to be true.

Washington Capitols vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Capitols are superior and should attempt to make this series as short as possible.

Huge differences here... San Jose should win this series out.

Jered Weaver vs G.Meche
One could surely argue with conviction that Meche is an ace.
And he is, no doubt about it, The Royals have an amazing #1 SP.
With Escobar and Lackey still on the DL, Jered Weaver is the Angels #1, although Saunders is making a strong case with his 2-0 record, his 1.27 ERA and 0.94 WHIP.
Jered Weaver IMO, is the Angels #1 for years to come.
His style of throw reminds me of the consistent elite in the game.

You'll get a great price on this as the Rays will be the underdog.
