Farewell Letter

I want to send a letter out to the people at my current company to say goodbye. I've drafted something and I would like your opinions as to how I could improve it.

Thanks,

Radar

=========================

Dear Friends and Esteemed Colleagues,

I'm sending this letter to let you know that I will be moving on to new and exciting challenges in my career. It is with both sadness and excitement that I write this letter. My last day at Siemens will be January 25, 2008.

It has been a genuine pleasure working for DPC & Siemens during these past three years. I have enjoyed working with a fine staff of professionals, and I will miss my associations here. Working for DPC & Siemens has been a wonderful experience. I could not ask for a better group of colleagues. I have grown in many ways here and will always treasure the opportunities provided for me by both DPC & Siemens. During my time here, I've grown personally and professionally. I wish you all continued success in all your endeavors.

I will miss my friends here at Siemens, but I feel that it is time for a new challenge and experience.

For those who are in the Los Angeles area, I'd like to invite you to enjoy one last happy hour with me at Patrick Malloy's Pub on the Hermosa Beach Pier. This will happen from 6pm on Friday, January 25th 2008.

It has been my great pleasure to serve you and I thank you all for the opportunity to do so.

Sincerely Yours,

Radar

Radar, I think that sounds very good - positive and cheerful, without gloating.

Drop the repetitive, "During my time here, I've grown personally and professionally".

There is a bit too much repetition in that middle paragraph, but overall, it sound really good.

I think it needs more "kiss my gold-plated ass you bunch of go-nowhere losers! You guys are sooooo screwed without me because I was the only one keeping this clapped-out tramp steamer of a company from capsizing completely and taking the lot of you incompetent, gossiping, mouth-breathing, backstabbing, coffee-swilling, whining, cube-dwelling, pin-striped slackers with it...."

What? You don't want to burn the bridges? *sigh* Ok, it's good as it is.

For a minute there I thought you were leaving US, Radar. Don't scare us like that.

Sorry Zen, didn't mean to scare you...or to get anyone's hopes up.

I like your version and if I were burning this bridge, I'd be inclined to use it. "When I leave, you're all dead in the water".

It's a nice idea and a lovely letter, but I agree about the repetition

It has been a genuine pleasure working for DPC & Siemens
Working for DPC & Siemens has been a wonderful experience

It has been a genuine pleasure
It has been my great pleasure

I will miss my associations here.
I will miss my friends here at Siemens,

new and exciting challenges in my career
it is time for a new challenge and experience.

etc. almost everything is said twice.

and this bit is a little OTT for me:

It has been my great pleasure to serve you and I thank you all for the opportunity to do so.

it almost screams "You will take me back if I don't like it in the big wide world, won't you?" To me, anyway.

I would agree if it was a letter just to management, but to cow orkers and associates, it's a nice sentiment.

Over the years I've worked with a lot of guys that were so skilled/knowledgeable, everyone agreed we wouldn't know what to do without them. As they died, retired or quit, probably the longest ripple was a week. Somehow it always gets done.

Short & Sweet....

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with both excitement and sadness that I write this letter. I am beginning a new and exciting chapter in my career. My last day at Siemens will be January 25, 2008. It has been a pleasure working with you for the last three years.

For those who are in the Los Angeles area, I'd like to invite you to enjoy happy hour with me at Patrick Malloy's Pub on the Hermosa Beach Pier Friday, January 25th 2008 starting at 6pm.

Sincerely,

Paul T. Ireland

For those who are in the Los Angeles area, I'd like to invite you to enjoy one last happy hour with me at Patrick Malloy's Pub on the Hermosa Beach Pier, except for the 1 person there that must have had an orgasm when she found out I was leaving...assuming an old dried up bitch like her is still capable of having them and one could escape her dusty, crusty, and cobwebbed cootch. This will happen from 6pm on Friday, January 25th 2008.

Vivian, oh Vivian, have you met Vivian.
Vivian with the dried up coochie.

She's got fangs in her maw,
and claws on her paws,
and spues black bile till my ears are raw.

Vivian, oh Vivian, have you met Vivian.
Vivian with the dried up coochie.

It's a very nice letter and a nice idea.
Mine would have been something along the lines of:

Thanks for making my job here fun.
But I got a better offer so I gotta run.
