Arrow Female dentists

I’ve just now come from an accute, emergency visit to the dentist. It was a root canal job. Ouch!

I went to the dentist last Thursday (in an emergency). He nearly killed me with pain (despite the injectioin) and when he was finished – no good! So I returned to him again the following day (Friday) moaning in pain, for another emergency. It was another bout of leg-flaying pain, and in the end – no good! I’ve been in the most excruciating pain for a whole week now and the only thing keeping me from jumping off my balcony has been 2 Alvedon and 1 Ipren every 3½ hours plus 4 Tikacillin each day. That’s a lot of tablets to take, for me.

So this morning I decided to bypass the doctor from last week and go to the school for dentisty, emergency services. It was a woman this time. She was gentle. I felt merely a slight prick of the needle and that was all I felt until she released me from the dentist chair 1½ hours later. I think I feel OK now. She not only repaired my tooth but she did it without any pain.

Is it just my opinion or do women just naturally make better dentists?

Sounds like you did an exhaustive study on the matter by looking at so many dentists, so I'd say it's a good rule of thumb you have come up with.

Well ..... I've been around the block more than twice but I didn't think it was necesssary to talk about ALL the dentists I've been to in my life-time. You don't really want me to list them all, do you? I'm sure you'd fall asleep before I reach the half-way point.

I hope this next statement does not open me up for too much trouble.

Perhaps women are naturally more nurturing then men.

If it does, then we're in the same stew!

That we encourage women students of dentistry to be more competent and humane than what we encourage our male students to be? With that sort of suggestion I think you'll be needing this ....

I went to the orthodontist from grade 1 to grade 10...The office consisted of about 10 - 12 less experienced female orthodontists and one male (the owner of the place) the girls were always gentle with their work, as was the doctor. Nothing I had done there required any cutting though, just jabbing me with pointy things and such.

Or maybe the suggestion was that there is little reward for competence and thoughtful care after one gets a job in your system. If that female dentist is really good it would be interesting to see how long she is working in your system post-graduation before she decides to ply her trade outside of your system.

I've never met a female dentist in my life. A good friend of the family who happens to be a dentist has told me that it's because even the ones who are interested often get turned off during training by how much actual arm strength is required. Apparently it takes some pretty strong wrists and forearms to pull out those really stubborn teeth (and it's true, my dentist is a skinny little guy with Popeye forearms.)

Hopefully that isn't due to his activities while his patients are under anastesia

Any chance of your dentist doing this?
(kind of NSFW - text only news report, but ...).

Look, it's quite simple. Don't go to Steve Martin.

I recently had a crown put in by my female dentist and her female assistant. They manhandled the tooth quite thoroughly.

You really can't be that stupid, can you?
If you've experienced that many bad dentists, there's something wrong with your system that trains them.... or you're just a chronic complainer.

But seeing how you live in socialist utopia, it must be you.
