One can be neutral, just not respecting, having no opinion at all about something without actively disrespecting it.
Disrespect is actively feeling negatively toward something... two very different things.

Furthermore, neutrality is a form of respect. It shows room in your own psyche that you provide for an idea that you don't actively endorse or condemn.

I'm not saying I don't believe homosexuality exists, I'm just saying I don't believe in the concept of it. Kind of like how I believe Scientology exists, but I don't believe in what it stands for.

Yeah, I realize this is a real tangent, but I just don't know what there is about homosexuality that can be believed in or not.

As far as I can tell, the "concept of" homosexuality is that some people fall in love and/or are attracted to members of the same sex. What's not to believe there?

maybe i was being a little vague, I believe homosexuality exists, however i personally do not agree with it. Kind of like someone saying "I don't believe in hitting my children". Does that kind of make sense?

yes, but to carry the analogy a little further:

People are predisposed to NOT beat their children. Those who do are choosing an alternative lifestyle.

People are predisposed to NOT engaging in homosexual behavior. Those who do are choosing an alternative lifestyle.

Though no one knows exact origins, it seems clear that homosexuality is not a choice, it's a predispostion of attraction to the same sex.

i understand where you're going with that, but I think there are a lot of homosexuals who choose to do it too. Take into consideration all the bisexuals who can easily choose either sex. Also, it seems like America, being a more relaxed and idle country has a much larger homosexual population than say China.
