Course Correction

As most of you probably know, I started an adventure this spring that ended prematurely. I've moved on and a bunch of interesting stuff has happened since...

Now it's time for the next adventure: I'm going to attend grad school this Fall. In England. I'll be there for a year. I'm pretty freaking excited...

Now to apply for loans and a visa... yay?

(Yes, my name has changed, but I'm sure it didn't throw many of you off...)

I was going to go to school in Canada for a semester, but never went through with it. Maybe I'll just get my doctorate from someplace prestigious.

I'm going to Newcastle University. It's about an hour's drive south of Scotland.

We'll be in the same residence hall most likely.

She and I just spent the last 10 days or so wandering around New England. We had a blast together.

I don't plan on driving while I'm there. Newcastle is small enough town for foot or bike.

An hour south of Scotland.

Have fun. I used to live over that way -it's a beautiful coastline. Be sure to visit Lindisfarne. And try Craster Kippers.

It's not that small (it is a city), but the bus service is good and the local train service works well for daytrips. If you bike, buy a nasty loseable one. Bike theft is huge.

Good luck with the accent

I'll be buying a shit-tastic bike to ride around. Is bike theft huge in all of England or is it just a popular Newcastle occupation?

I hear the Geordie accent is so wild that it should almost be approached as a foreign language.

The way I describe its location to Americans is that it's 3 hours north of London and an hour from Scotland.

It's kind of funny that every time I tell someone where I'm going they can't get their mind around the fact that I'm not going to London.

It's huge in all English Cities, but Newcastle is particularly bad.
