I agree. My complaint is, instead of fixing laws that don't work, they just ignored them. Ignoring laws for one's own convenience is habit forming, and a very bad habit at that.
When everybody ignored the laws, they completely lost control of the border. The problem is not just Mexicans, but the people entering through Mexico.

Immigration laws have gone through quite a few changes over the years, in attempts to "fix" them, I guess. It seems to me, though, that whenever the Gov't tries to make them more restrictive, they are less effective.
