Baby dies on vegan diet, parents convicted

I saw the news article about the baby crown shakur that died on a vegan diet. It makes gruesome reading. They say the child died a very painful death from malnutrition.

I have skimmed through a thread on this news item, and the general concensus (actually supported by the source material) was that the parents flat-out starved the kid to death, regardless of what it was the parents themsleves were eating.

The reckless implication is that vegans are in danger of starving to death, but that has nothing to do with what happened here. Would it have been less awful if the parents had starved the kid to death while the parents themselves dined on filet mingon?

After looking into this more you are right. The jury convicted them based on starvation, and neglect. I still think the vegan diet sounds dangerous for babies. I had read this article on the NYT. death by veganism
