Good thought, but all through the maneuvers in this, and another clip, the rotor speed would have to be constant, with varying loads.

That said, you've come up with the only logical solution I've heard yet.

I think that the rotors can also change their pitch/angle to change lift, but I'm not a chopper jock so I don't know.
I'm also pretty sure that the front and rear rotors are mechanically engaged to each other, one won't turn without the other turning, they just turn at different rates.
Also, you can hear the engines running and changing speed with the maneuvers.
I *do* know that a helicopter's glide characteristics match those of a wet crow bar.
Hold it, is that Bob Hoover in the pilot's seat?
