The point's been made, and since this thread seems destined for a stay at the top of the list, I'd like to see a little editing of the title, please. It's for the children. No, not really, but I'm tired of seeing it in the headlines like that. Some of us are at work, y'know.

Question: Was Shawnee under the influence after having a really crappy time personally and/or professionally? Does she regualarly go off like this or has this taken most people a bit by surprise?

As someone who occasionally posts while intoxicated, I have posted things I really and truly didn't mean. (as well as loads of complete and utter drivel and responses in the wrong topics and even on the wrong boards....

)

Let's not make it impossible for her to make amends and come back when her temporary ban is up, please? On a daily basis there are many, many posters who are more obnoxious than Shawnee and take it right up to the line of acceptability in an almost professional manner. Shawnee crossed well over the line in one (prolonged) incident, which suggests to me that there may be mitigating circumstances. Of course I'm not one who was called names, but I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same if I had been.

That and it's just words. I decided long ago that (to me) the intent is what matters and here I don't think the strength of the intent matches that suggested by the words. I'm shutting up now. I hope it was just a really crappy time for Shawnee, that she realises that the majority of us will forgive and forget all about it pretty quickly and would like to see her back, and that she owes an apology or two but that saying sorry will not make her a lesser person.

BuBy is not a word and could be taken to mean any number of things, mostly in an unpleasant name-calling context -especially if you are already feeling sensitive. I had to go back and read the context to realize you were not being insulting.
