Maybe it's about time to go back to allowing RC priests to marry. They cut that off to end the nepotism of hereditary sees -- which did not prevent the Church from becoming a huge economic bloc in Europe in the centuries following.

But a commitment to celibacy has an appeal to someone running from what is undeniably his sexuality, however reprehensible, and I think this is one root of the Church's sex scandals. Why not strike at that root?
