Rest in peace

I lost one of my best friends today. Tasha had been with me for nineteen years.

You don't see too many 4.5-pound purebreed Maine Coons around!

This picture was taken quite recently.

My condolences, Pie.

I thought a 4.5 pound Maine Coon was an impossibility ... at least beyond the early months of kittenhood. She must have been TINY.

Sorry to hear about your friend, Pie.

19 years though...wow...that's amazing to me.

sorry to hear that, pie. i recently lost my cat (one of my best friends) in a fire. he died of smoke inhalation. i raised him from 4 weeks, so you can imagine how close we were. maybe our cats are mingling in kitty heaven.

Though our cat was a 15 pound monster.

In that same fire, my cat went missing. I have no idea where she is. She was more than 5 pounds, but not by that much... and was just about the most lovable cat you could imagine. It's killing me not being able to find her, and I've read that only 2.1% of lost cats are reunited with their owners. I, too, know what it is like to lose. And you have my deepest condolences. Celebrate the time you had with her and be glad that you shared your lives.

Allow me to also extend my condolences. I lost my cat of 16 years to a dog attack summer before last, and I still miss her.

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. I know I have been very lucky -- she was with me for a very long time, enjoyed good health, and died peacefully.

That's about all a pet owner could ask for. Heck, that's what I wish for!

It'll still be a while before I can smile much...

Thanks,

Pie
