come on, get some hollywood up in heah.
his buddy was dying of a heart attack and his final wish was for the guy to take care of his wife and kids. Or maybe his friend said "Dude, we've been friends a long time...you know how I feel about ducknuts. It would be a knife in my back, man..." I don't watch soaps, I can't write them well
