I didn't make it up, go tell it to the World Atlas.
If you follow the Jersey Pike from NY to Philly, it's contiguous civilization, especially east of the Pike. The forested areas west of the Pike, like up near the water gap, don't break the chain, they're beside it. Besides, coyotes will live in the city.
