i hear you tiddy. its true. and texas isn't exactly known to be "progressive."

even still, not all bad.

hell, i'm moving to australia in a year or two, so i'll be defending texas to whole other country. they like texans (and other americans) there, though, generally.

yeah, we're not all bad. but there are exceptions. that's everywhere you go though. i've piloted all over the southern states from el paso texas to as far north as arkansas, to hang with zippyt, to as far east to north carolina and have found that the good, by far, out weigh the bad! hmmm. come to think of it i need to pilot my way up to Kansas City and kick back with a beer. who knows, i might make a stop along the way and pick up zippyt. he could probably use another flight lesson!

Californians often harbor a pointed dislike for Texans due to the screwjobs of Enron and the president (Florida gets handouts like no other state while California is told it can deal with things like the energy crisis).

When I lived in Albuquerque, calling a person a Texan was a racial slur.

When I lived in Los Angeles anyone with a southern dialect was thought of as a Texan and considered "slow" and aggressive.
They feared rednecks far more than they did gang-bangers... it was hilarious.
I have some great stories, one short one is that I used to do a redneck character voice around an office I used to work in, mostly gay men and women worked there (they thought I was gay because I was an actor and mentioned it in my interview, they were unhappy when they found out I was not, lol).
I was told to stop using "the voice" because it was scaring people.

My biggest issue with Texas/Texans is the dallas cowboys. We get beat over the head with cowboy coverage here. I'm not a real NFL fan, but it'd benice to hear about something other than the 'pokes (and the denver broncos for that matter.)

very true. it's a lot like the US over there, especially parts of texas. i even saw some similarities to tennessee and kentucky. and sydney is very much like NY city.

i'm looking forward to it, big time.

there's a difference between politics and business, and the average person you might meet and hang out with.
