Official Cellar documents return

The "What it is" document that used to appear at the bottom of the page is now the FAQ.

The "History" document is now linked at the bottom of the FAQ.

We ought to come up with some sort of "guidelines" document.

We ought to permanentize the "best of" into a FAQ document.

Hello, Undertoad, I read your FAQ section and history. Very nicely done. A terrific outline of what you hoped from your community. I agree, message board communities do make for a great hobby. I've learned a lot from the people on message boards, especially factoring in the international quotient.

I realize that a "guidelines" document is probably due to the "AG'ers", but I totally support that idea. Designing and enforcing something like that can be an interesting part of the hobby, I'd expect. After reading your FAQ I don't think you'd create a document that starts witch-hunts, but rather one that will put out the "perceived" fires that seem to be sparking.

I think I have more to say, but I'm starving. Catch ya later!

Excellent, UT!

Not knowing where the FAQ was.....duh.....I went to the bottom of the page. There I found a quote by Willie Penn about the truth being damaged more by the heat from it's defenders than it's attackers. It made me laugh...how true, how true.

I'd guess, yes & no. This shit has happened before and will happen again. Change is constant and inevitable...it's also good....healthy, even.

Change makes people a little uncomfortable, sometimes, and they'll resist it. That's cool, but sometimes a "perceived threat" is just that....perceived.
I guess we all put on our Don Quixote hats now and then but I am surprised at some of the excess vitriol. Age, number of posts, seniority, etc, are all bullshit.
Post content stands on it's own merits.

There isn't a member in the Cellar that hasn't made a mistake, I know I've made my share. Some might say more than my share, but live and learn.

We have cookies... we have the documents section. This is all nice.

What we REALLY want is to have back waffle and joe.

I'm not sure we need new/different guidelines.

I'm dealing with a lot of changes coming down in my life right now. I guess I'm on "change overload." (sigh)

We're dealing with a huge (relatively) influx of newcomers, many of whom state that they want the Cellar to turn into their old board. I liked the Cellar the way it was, but change is a constant, I guess. Things stop changing when you're dead. I just wish they'd be a little more polite or something. Of course, I haven't always been very polite, either. Like Griff said in another thread, its not been a great week for posting.

I need to ease off on my Cellar addiction, anyhow, and concentrate on packing and the logistics (I'm VERY bad at logistics) of my coming move.
