 An Indian woman pours an offering of milk for rats at the Karni Mata Hindu temple in the town of Deshnoke in India's northwestern state of Rajasthan. Rats, hundreds and hundreds of them, are everywhere at the temple. According to legend the rats are incarnations of human beings from the local Charan tribe whose souls are temporarily inhabiting the body of a rat until their rebirth. (Kamal Kishore/Reuters) |
