I believe that the livestock LJ is intending to house are his two young children ... in the loft area, and probably conventional storage on the lower floor.
This way he doesn't have to build a playhouse and a shed. Also, once the kids outgrow the loft playroom, it can easily be converted into Daddy's Playroom.
