Playing Cards

Interesting that the cards have square corners. Most have rounded corners. I wonder if they did that because it's cheaper or because they expected these to be collectibles?

I doubt they were meant to be played with. Just trying to get them off the scanner glass with my fingernails, tears up the edges.
