melidasaur had a very good call with Sweeny Todd. I thought we could only mention one. I loved the stage version that had Angela Lansbury.
hums....it stings a little, but not for long....

I like the Sound of Music. Good music, plus they escape from the Nazi's.

the classic "Dr Zeus" forces me to say that my favorite musical is the Planet of the Apes, on the Simpsons.

This is so tough.
I would have to say "Oklahoma!" as the best "classic" musical (with My Fair Lady a close second), and .. modern... hmmm between The Producers and Sweeney Todd. A tough choice. |

This year's Tony winner, Avenue Q, is beyond fantastic. Already seen it twice this fall.
While it features fuzzy Sesame Street knock-off puppets and does not have the sophisticated charm of a traditional blockbuster musical, the show is quite possibly the most entertaining I have ever come across. It's a complete satire on life - the jests and pokes at how we act and go about in our middle-class ways are hauntingly true. It will make you seriously consider dulling the edge on your attitude - while pissing yourself because your stomach hurts from laughing too much. Great way to spend an afternoon/evening here in NYC. |
