Shaun of the Dead
I saw this movie last night, and besides the two annoying fuckin morons who obnoxiously laughed at EVER single laugable joke or what not, it was great. There were only two downfalls, which had absolutely not significant effect on the movie, just minor. ONe, it took a while for the action to take place, but that's just the story setup. Second, it was a bit difficult to understand some of the dialogue. Except for these two, it was incredible. Not for the weak stomached thought, parts were very disgusting. FREAKIN hilarious though.

I loved it. I watch a lot of British TV, so the accents hardly ever threw me, and I caught the quick cameo from the second cast member (Tim) from "The Office". Very funny movie.

Caught it on DVD based on rave reviews. Great show. An American version is being made - certain to be worse, and almost certain to be bad - but it's got a former Daily Show guy as the boss, so I'll probably give it a look.

I am looking forward to "Shaun of the Dead", I really enjoy horror wrapped around comedy (like "Sleepy Hollow" or "Hellboy", not "Scary Movie"). |

I think there is a perception in England that Americans won't 'understand' our dry satirical comedy - that you can only appreciate the obvious more slapstick type. Of course there is a place for this type of humour, but I think this is quite insulting to a lot of Americans who are more than capable of 'getting it' - I mean sure our comedy is clever but it's not that complicated - for god's sake if the mass of this country can understand it your lot certainly can - we're all the same. Just a shame you don't get the 'pure' versions and be allowed to judge for yourselves.

Plus, American channels would much rather show a mediocre show that they own than a great show from another studio.

A big chunk of it is that some Americans can't understand it, period. Between the accents and the unfamiliar idioms, a lot of the jokes fly right over many of our heads. The dry wit style also lends itself to "throwaway" punchlines, sort of muttered to oneself, which makes things even harder to hear clearly. But many cable channels do offer BBC, so we at least get a small trickle of unmolested shows from across the pond. |

I'm not really sure what the difference between humor and "dry humor" is, but besides the accents and the muttered punchlines, i found the entire movie hilarious. Even though I cannot understand the accents, I still love hearing them.

Watched it. It wasn't even close to what I expected, and while I wouldn't say it's a great film, it was a lot of fun, and a good laugh. The character "Ed" reminds me a *lot* of a good friend of mine, and I think that made it a bit funnier. Definitely see it if you get a chance. Depending on special features, it would make a nice addition to the DVD collection.

I thought this was the most suckful horror/comedy flick I've ever seen.
