This is like the train wreck of civilization; we all stop and stare but how about *intervention*?
"umm, we really need to talk about you sitting on the couch when you crap. You really need to not do that."

I'm just guessing about that last part. Since I was born w/o a tact gene I'm never invited to interventions.

Not having researched this at all, I'm willing to guess that there was some sort of relief check involved which others, limpet like, were feeding from.

Just a shot in the dark.
