Is that 'little' as in TINKERTOYS??!!! I have two friends who are 5' 1" and 5'2" and 100-105 lbs, and they are both SKINNY.

I'd need to see a photo to believe it. 5'8" and 104 sounds inconsistent with life, let alone childbirth.

When I posted my own weight earlier in the thread I posted 5'8" and 100 pounds as her ht/wt.

Yeah, she's that skinny. All bony, pointy corners and stuff.

Yeah, but I disregarded it because most men, hubbies included, have no idea that a typical weight for a medium build (read: sexy) woman over 5' 6" is going to be over 130 lbs. If she's got muscles, it'll be even more. I usually don't believe anyone over that height weighs less than 120 unless they're painfully thin or have some wasting disease. This is based upon many years of experience as a personal trainer working with a wide cross section of the adult population (and my own experience as a weight-lifter).

Healthy 12 and 13 year-old, pre-pubescent girls 4' 10" - 5' 2" generally weigh between 95 and 110 lbs. Before hormones. Did you and Lady Sidhe adopt?

Nope, complication free pregnancy and birth. 6 pounds, 6 ounces, 19 and maybe a half inch.

She can go into more detail if she likes.

Another question might be ... how'd she end up with a fat chick's name?

For some women it's not. My cousin was anorexic for years--also about 5'8", but probably even less than 100 lbs. She had four kids during that time. No, it's not healthy to be that thin, but it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to die or that you can't have kids. It depends on the person.

Wow -- that's so far out of my range of experience that it isn't even on my radar. I wonder what % of the population your cousin and Lady Sidhe represent? (I mean the weight/health/childbearing, not the anorexia -- and I realize Lady S. isn't saying she's anorexic.) Thanks for opening my eyes to this!

I weighed 92lbs at my first OB appointment, 150 the day I delivered (8lb 11oz baby, the smaller of my 2), and 125 2 days later.
Just another data point...

I am 5'6" 140 lbs. I feel pretty good about my weight, actually. I am down about 40 lbs from where I was a year ago, so I always remind myself that I could have not lost the weight. Then I think about those out there in the 100-110 range and wonder where I could actually lose another 40 lbs. I suppose I could stand to lose another 20 or so. I am not worried, though. I just need to tone up a bit. The funny thing is, I haven't been this weight in about 5 years...and I only had my son 3 years ago.

I wonder if it's a matter of cognitive dissonance (overlooking or subtly 'reinterpreting' info that doesn't match one's own world view) -- but at 5' 6" I begin to look positively gaunt at less than 135 lbs. I am pretty muscular, but I mean total strangers will ask if I have always been 'so thin' or even if I am ill at 130.

In my years as a personal trainer, I had contact with well over 200 women of all ages, ethnicity, shapes, sizes and condition, and can only remember two who were in the 5'6"-5'8" range at under 110 lbs, and I suspected both of them had eating disorders. Maybe I just don't encounter the healthy skinny ones, or maybe I just don't notice them?

PS. Good going, Case, and all the others on this board who have attacked a weight/health problem! My favorite technique, as I mentioned before, is weightlifting (I DETEST aerobics, but love hefting big chunks of metal around) and I really need to get back into it after nearly 4 years off. Now I'm in a whole new age class, if I decide to compete again. All of your success stories, and even the 'just trying' stories are very motivational!

I weighed 96 lbs when I got pregnant--ended up weighing 140 lbs by the time I gave birth. I hated being pregnant. I wasn't used to that much weight, and I hurt all the time.

Here's us:

That was when I was about five months pregnant. I didn't start even showing until the seventh month.....

so, i'm watching gymnastics the other night, and svetlana k. from russia comes up in the rotation. OMG!!!!!!!!!!! this woman is a skeleton in a leotard. so, with this thread in mind, i looked up her stats, and americanizing them she is about 5'5'' and prob 100-105lbs. so anyone who is 5'6''+ and the same weight in my eyes is disgustingly thin. i could barely watch svetlana do her routine, i kept waiting for her arms to snap in half as she was doing the vault,
