The most knowledgeable analysis I've seen of it has it that the Kurds are no sort of monolith, but there are approximately four major factions, with about three of the Kurdish factions at odds with a fourth. This fourth faction, with which the US is not in a friendly relationship owing to them being a pack of Communists, is the faction the Turks say they are assaulting, and that they're terrorists.

Meanwhile, the US is friendlier with the other three Kurdish factions; we're more supportive of Iraqi Kurds, then other Kurds, in Syria, in a descending order.

But of course, tw's prejudiced existence prevents such knowledge from ever illuminating his dark recesses. 3-plus percent economic growth for quarter after quarter after quarter and the lowest unemployment rates in sixty solid years across each and every known demographic, and positions now so abundant that employers are struggling to fill them -- there are help-wanted signs up all over my town -- all this in two years, that's utterly foolish, hm?
