We aren't allowed to use them on people who are on the unit. They won't even let our ambulance crew have pepper spray.
Usually the tasers work. Sometimes they don't. There was once psychotic guy I may have mentioned before (angel wings and a monks robe with a cowboy hat? Bunny ears and jesus sandals?) On one of his earliest admissions he was tazed two or three times, didn't go down. Finally the police dog chewing on his ass got his attention long enough to get him in handcuffs.
