Unexpected mechanical woes are the pits. Hope ya get stuff sorted, Limey.
Try to enjoy yourselves, out of spite if ya have to.  I'm gonna guess it's the fuel pump/filter.[/outoftheblueuneducatedguess] Definitely not the Russians.
