Proposing uncontitutional things that sound tough is a political trick to get elected and not actually have to change anything or spend any money. "Well I tried but the stupid courts held me back! But I'm still the toughest on crime ever!!!"
Similarly, see flag burning amendment and gay marriage amendment. Nothing changed except perceptions. It's fake leadership. |
