That's the thing about slang (and all words, really): if enough people start to use it as synonymous with rimming, then eventually that will be what the word means. Maybe we've even already hit that point as wiki indicates, I have no idea. But I know that 5 years ago, my roommate and his boyfriend would have been very disappointed had you suggested one and then performed the other.
