loving Australia so far

Been here about a week and a half now and we are really loving it. We spent about 3 1/2 days in Melbourne near the Southbank on the Yarra River and enjoyed checking out the city but damn are prices high for food in restaurants. Granted we were in a touristy area but our average dinner for 2 with a bottle of the red stuff ran close to $200 every night.

Now we are settled into Geelong about 60 miles south, renting a nice flat so cooking in for may of our meals puts us more on budget. Weather is perfect after coming south from Houston; cool springtime with some rain but nice.

Every weekday morning I drive my wife to the Shell refinery and then the day is free to explore, I just need to be back to pick her up at 4:30. Oh and don't even thing about turning left on a red down here, they have traffic cameras everywhere and red means red! I've driven down the Great Ocean Road 2 times already, kind of like the Big Sur highway in California. Over all the people here are real friendly althought they talk kind of funny.

3 more weeks!
