Thread Ownership

If you start a thread, is it yours? Or does it belong to the community? What right do you have to complain about the content other people apply to a thread you have started? What right do you have to ignore the thread "rules" imposed by the thread starter? Just wondering....

Me, I think trying to own a thread is like expressing ownership of a gallon of untrapped air. Which molecules exactly are yours, and how to you plan to control them? But then I see so much talk about "my thead, her thread, other people's threads...." Isn't it a little lame to try and control responses to what you post (although obviously this is a necessity in game-type threads)? If threads were meant to be owned, wouldn't the starter have the ability to delete and moderate? Or is this the preliminary to a new netiquette? A code of conduct above and beyond that which is dictated by physical abilities and limitations?
