They make dolls. Expensive, customizable, conservative dollies. They're cute in that Stepford Wives kind of way. But they're anathema to the Mississippi-based American Family Association and the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League.

"Let American Girl know they are making a terrible mistake," AFA chairman Don Wildmon said in a statement.

"Parents need to know that this effort to promote self-esteem among girls is not as innocent as it seems," Executive directory Ann Scheidler said. "While Girls Inc. has some good programs, they also support abortion, oppose abstinence-only education for girls, and condone lesbianism."

So, because this toy brand, strongly associated with girls supports an organization dedicated to girls, and their welfare, these groups are calling to shun, to boycott their products. How close minded can you get?! The Girls, Inc. promotion is to sell bracelets that say "I Can". I guess they're saying to their girls "No, you can't."
