No Satan here. Nope, none at all.

It was a close call whether to put this in Current Events or Entertainment.

When you come right down to it, it would be humorous except that people like this mayor exist all over the place, and closer to us than we think. Ever driven through, say, Honey Brook? The only functional difference between there and Inglis is the lack of an official proclamation.

Or take the charming burg of Penryn, south of Lancaster, where the local police recently voted unanimously to withhold police support for a YMCA-sponsored triathlon. Why? Because YMCA staff were reading Harry Potter books to children, therefore promoting witchcraft and DEFYING THE WORD OF GOD! Horrors.

The most charming quote from the crusading civil servant:

"Satan is not allowed in my office, he is not allowed in my life, and he is not allowed in my town." MY town?

We need some airdrops of Danzig CDs, STAT.

Anton LaVey is still dead.

(So is Madeline Murry O'Hare, who wasn't so much pro-Satan as anti-God).

I guess no one is running on the pro-Satan ticket anymore.

Why did she say, in a part of the proclamation that raised ACLU eyebrows, that she was "appointed by God to this position of leadership?"

"Because he always cleared the way for me," she says. "I even ran unopposed. I always had support. I took it as a sign."
She ran unopposed for mayor of this:

Quote:
Inglis is a sleepy town where half the residents live in mobile homes and people have to drive to the next town to have prescriptions filled or find a franchise restaurant.

Inglis has no sewage treatment; people have to get by with septic tanks. Many of the streets are gravel or dirt...
The miracle is that someone decided to run at all. And I thought I was being held in an ass-backwards town...
