Alternatively, call a dealership that you might be interested in buying the car from. Let them know you are looking at buying a car, but currently do not own one, and thus do not have insurance either. Might they be able to recommend a few? Many insurance agents schmooze with salesmen to get clients in exactly your situation.
A busy agent is more likely to answer a call from a buddies number first, before an unknown one.
