What's the earliest Cellar post that you remember?
The first post that I remember was a post by Brianna, offering oral sex in exchange for help with a math problem. It was something about a zucchini losing water/weight.
And you? |
No one will be able to top that...
|
I joined the day I found the cellar in 2004.
I felt the need to respond to a discussion about the red/blue states where the standard map of the states had been refined by showing a county by county map of the country. It looked a lot more purple. There was a further map that changed the size of the counties to be in proportion to their populations (or perhaps it was the states that changed sizes...) and the map looked very little like the geographic projection we're all accustomed to. I believe the discussion was centered (at that moment) on which states were donor states and which were beggar states. It was that image that reminded me of an image of a homunculus. I joined the cellar so I could join the discussion. I even got to post the image of the homunculus eventually. |
An homunculus?

Doesn't everyone remember their first post?
Mine was an iotd. Octopus opens a jar. |
I remember my first post, and the content of the post it was in reply to. But no way do I remember the very first post I saw. I lurked in IoTD for years before I ventured onto the rest of the board.
|
I joined when I came across Sundae's nude pics. I guess I am a perv
|
Foambase. Definitely the foamed-out AFB IOTD. Followed quite quickly by catching up on literally every single post in the wtf thread.

I wish I could remember what post it was that got me to register, but search only goes so far back.

Actually, you can!

Same here! Although someone linked it somewhere else, and that brought me here to see what else the Cellar had! MY first post was on this thread - http://cellar.org/showthread.php?t=1...uality+schools (post #94, page 7) |
|
I don't remember ... I was told about this place by my oldest son, who was a member for a little while. I lurked around the IoTD mostly and felt like a fool whenever I ventured into a discussion. So I backed off and lurked, then drifted away. And then came back. :)
|
I used to read over my then-boyfriend's (now husband) shoulder, and then joined so I could lurk more efficiently. Though I may not be remembering correctly, my first Cellar memory is that whole plane on a treadmill mess. I'm spectacularly bad at physics, so that thread pretty much made me go cross eyed.
ETA: I just looked it up and discovered my husband is the one responsible for starting that thread. Oops. |
I came in when the Politics forum was in chaos, and some
Dwellars were talking about "banning" some other Dwellars. They decided to use the tumbrels, instead. |
Not surprisingly, my first post was a photoshop job of Jim's son in a nebula. ;)

Nice! Cosmic, as you said.
|
Oh my photo shop skills have improved since then. I'm working on Chocolatl's and Kitsune's daughter-as-Mao as we type...
|
I'm supposed to be figuring out how to run a t-test on some numbers that took miles of code to generate, as we type ... and getting nowhere. Steroids, don't fail me now!
|
Steroids! I just applied them. The doc confirmed I have lazy nuts, no tumor. I'm on day 3 of Androgel and still don't look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. :(
I just googled t-test and my eyes glaze over so fast I am only able to type this because my parents made me take typing classes in jr high. |
my typing classes were in summer school.
yes, they had typewriters back then. |
Lazy nuts beat the hell out of a tumor any day. Don't be so impatient, it takes at least five days to look like Arnold - six to get past the Arnold stage and look 'way better.
I'm glad you guys remember typewriters! My kids fall over laughing when I tell them about learning to type - and how we didn't have cell phones in high school. So I stopped providing them with endless amusement and decided to learn to write SAS code (not really, it's a mandatory course this semester). I'm gonna wait for the big steroid hit tomorrow, though. The t-test will be putty in my hands then. ;) |
I was googling horny moose jokes and came across and IotD with a horny moose tangled in a power line.
|
I remember making the first post on the Cellar but I don't remember what it said. Basically I think it was welcome, we are up and running.
|
Happy Monkey, how did you do that?
|
Hmmmm...maybe first post was here, post 393:
http://www.cellar.org/showthread.php...123#post422506 By post 395 I was already hilarious. ;) I'm not sure though, not sure I searched right. |
I'm pretty sure it was michaelsmith ranting about something he knew absolutely nothing about and getting schooled by Brian Siano ... ...

I found mine! I jumped into a discussion on disabled parking tags and plates (nothing near as interesting as Trilby's post); and Infi, you welcomed me!
|
:)
(So many of my past posts are positively putrid. I used to be way mouthier. Glad I welcomed you!) |

Now, how can I find my 550th post? |

Yet, you said something to me once that I count in the top 2 things here that made me feel accepted for being me.
You said something about it is known that I have a 'fluid personality' and I don't remember the gist of it or anything but I remember feeling welcome and understood. The other was a comment from UT about having emeritus status. Not that there weren't others...but those I remember clearly because perhaps I really needed to hear those things at that time. |
I'd lurked for quite a while, and then jumped right in, it seems ...

We're our own harshest critics. I didn't link to my first post because it was lame. As were many of the ones to immediately follow. So I stopped reading after a handful.

If you remember a specific topic, you can search for it. And Google allows some pretty good searching too. But not by post number.
|
I don't think you're missing anything Happy Monkey. I salute your smart solution to finding the first (five hundred) post(s). I was just wondering if *I* was missing anything.
glatt--yes, I do know about searching especially with google. I don't actually know how to find or even identify the 550th post via google or the cellar or whatever. actually, now that I think about it, the way we determine which is the first post is by the date/timestamp on the post and the oldest post is considered the first post. If there were some way to search for the field that contains the timestamp data and poster's username, then it would be possible accumulate them then count them up or down any distance we like. |
