"It's very difficult," said one player, Kriangsak Nachawee, a university student. "When the elephants had the ball, it was quite risky to attack ... I could end up in a hospital."

Upon seeing the title of this thread, I thought for a moment that it was going to feature a shot of a souvenir drinking vessel from a wildlife park...

Happy Friday to everyone!!

That looks like so much damn fun!
I wish there was more space for them to have for themselves worldwide.

Those guys are really bad shavers. I've never seen so many pieces of tissue stuck to faces.
I probably shouldn't judge. Maybe they just don't have access to decent razors.:bandaid:

Well what do you expect, these people weren't even awake enough to change out of their pajamas...

They were up all night painting the damn elephants, probably. Sheesh, that better be tempera paint.

BlueSky_TheMan 06-23-2006 03:09 PM

Duh, that’s not paint. Those are DNA altered Tibetan Congo Rainbow Elephants hand picked for their chameleonic ability to Display National symbols dependent upon the shape and texture of the riders ass.

I think it's an unwritten universal law that you can't ride one with shoes on.

findpolitics 06-23-2006 04:41 PM

fun

I think those elephants are having fun

xoxoxoBruce 06-23-2006 05:05 PM

I don't see any officials on the field.....cowards.:headshake

footfootfoot 06-23-2006 11:03 PM

I'm ready for the elephants to take on those cheating bastard ants and school them.

Elspode 06-24-2006 12:37 AM

The mice will take 'em.

Go Ghana!! Kick that ball!!

(I asked my favorite Ghanian to teach me their national footballing chant. Apparently they don't have one.)

xoxoxoBruce 06-27-2006 02:15 PM

I just ran across this video of the game. :)

BlueSky_TheMan 06-27-2006 02:25 PM

I see from the linked page with the video that this entire soccer match was created to help bring about awareness of evils of gambling in world cup soccer.

What do you think the odds were on the game ?

I'm so down hearted right now. I was really hoping those 'phants would restore my faith in the animal kindom's sense of honour, but carrying the ball with your trunk, well, that's just not cricket.

xoxoxoBruce 06-27-2006 10:34 PM

Yeah, but the don't carry it into to goal they kick it in to score. I notice the guy said the ball was very heavy too.

footfootfoot 06-27-2006 10:47 PM

So it's more like Australian Rules football. Do they still play that?

Thanks, I feel a bit better.

Elspode 06-28-2006 11:47 AM

Yes, but that is played on Ostriches, I believe.

Griff 06-28-2006 11:59 AM

I believe you are thinking of African Rules Football. Australian is the one where you chase the dingo into the rabbit fence.
