Tshirt design

1 Attachment(s)
Ok it has been suggested that a Tshirt may be in order ,
Ideas ???
I think it should be 2-3 colors MAX , nothing TO horribly offensive ( Thanks Janet and Justin ),

Idea 1) 3 monkeys on the front right brest area , cellar tag line on the back .

Idea 2) front or back ,

novice 03-06-2004 06:11 AM

I love the idea. I also love the above cartoon hehe.
To be frank, the tag line will only be so much gibberish to most, but the three monkeys will be instantly recognisable to those in the know.
Therefore I think the shirt be designed for our enjoyment and to that end I propose the back should be covered in small print tag lines. All of them. Past, present and proposed.
If nothing else it'd make a great conversation piece.
However they end up i'm gonna buy two. One to wear and one to shelve. I would ask that each one has our individual user name and joining date.

xoxoxoBruce 03-06-2004 07:52 AM

GOTTA have a POCKET.

Instead of 3 monkeys, 3 toads. :)

zippyt 03-06-2004 10:58 PM

Well a toad on the brest close to the heart , that could work . But it HAS to be a COOL toad , not just some damn frog looking thing .

How about the 3 monkeys on the sleeve ??

Tag lines on the back , that could work .

Indivigual Tshirts with the sign on dates and handels would be WAY to much trouble .

How about Cellar ASSHATS , with the saying "ASSHAT planted firmly in place ! "

lumberjim 03-06-2004 11:19 PM

you know i'm in.

ok. how?

do we do a gtg somewhere, and print a bunch up?

do we do decals and make our own?

huh?

any lesbians on here that do textiles?

Could you make it look like the monkeys were flying out of our butts?

Shattered Soul 03-07-2004 12:00 AM

The taglines on the back and the monkeys (and of course, the toad--UNDER the monkeys) are definitely a must-have.

lumberjim 03-07-2004 12:18 AM

3 monkies on the front left breast (on the pocket optional)

large toad on the back at the top, sitting on the words "the cellar"

top ten (as chosen by a rigorous round of polls and playoffs) tag lines below
the blue from the words at the top left "cellar" on white t shirt.

tag lines alternate grey and white background with authors credited as it appears on the actual cellar, dates, titles, sigs and all.

alan, warch, draw us a toad. a good one with lots of warts.

Elspode 03-07-2004 12:29 AM

Logo on the back exactly as seen in upper left hand corner of our monitors. Beneath that, the Top Ten Taglines. On the front, with only his head coming out of the pocket, The Toad, with "Undertoad, Proprietor" in a semicircle or arch around/over/under the pocket.

UT gets to pick the Toad art.

ASSHAT , I have seen these SOME WHERE , I can't find them . Some body that has time see if you can find them , I think they are needed to go with the shirts .

lumberjim 03-07-2004 12:57 AM

i just remembered that i have a good customer that owns a tshirt printing business.

I'll call him monday and ask him for some pricing.

if we decide on a design, i could get him to make them. i also think we should set up a profit margin for toad.

can we get by with 2 colors?

zippyt 03-07-2004 01:02 AM

can we get by with 2 colors?

That would be the cheapest way to go . That is why i suggested it .

All procedes go to toad for the cellar , from the cellar .

wolf 03-07-2004 01:02 AM

We could buy these from cafepress.com ...

Who also do a relatively decent job on a variety of merchandise items with supplied artwork. I think that the organization gets like a $1 back on each item purchased ... probably more expensive than going with a local provider, but wider range of crap available.

Undertoad 03-07-2004 07:58 AM

I don't need to pick anything! You guys pick it all out! I'll just wear it.

Re: Tshirt design

what? no whale penis to be seen anywhereon the shirt? its just not right!
:p

novice 03-07-2004 08:20 AM

Black, cotton, no pockets t-shirt yellow monkeys and tag lines. Nothing central on front so it can look classy under a leather jacket and conversational when the outer layer comes off.
No offense Bruce but i've usually got enough pockets and I never take pens out. Ever. Or dodads.
Keys, wallet, phone, that's it

novice 03-07-2004 08:28 AM

Might I suggest we split up and seek estimates for around 50 two toned t-shirts. The exchange rate may well offset the postage if I can find a local producer. Besides, I'd probably send the bulk to one person in Philly and let him/her forward them.
If someone comes up with an obvious winner we can then iron out the wrinkles.

xoxoxoBruce 03-07-2004 08:32 AM

What, do you roll your smokes, up in your sleeve? No pocket....pshaw!:p

novice 03-07-2004 08:41 AM

Non smoker. 15 mths and counting:p

xoxoxoBruce 03-07-2004 08:52 AM

You pussy, turn in your leather jacket.:haha:

novice 03-07-2004 09:53 AM

Oh dear, and to think I admired you. Your obvious lack of taste, however.......

Beestie 03-07-2004 10:40 AM

I'm so lazy I hadn't gotten around to looking at this thread.

Zippy - that cartoon is freakin' hilarious. How did you do that? On the computer or is it scanned hand work?

jinx 03-07-2004 10:58 AM

Hot_pastrami helped him a little bit

I drew it directly on the computer, with the shitty mouse I have at work... that's why the lines are kinda jaggy. Next time I'll try it from home with my trackball, which should allow much smoother lines. Of course the fact that I hurried through it in 10-15 minutes didn't help, either. :D

Not yellow text, but definitely black shirt. And I'll take 2, one in 3x and one in XL

I think its the jagged and hurried look that give it its charm - sort of a metaphor for Lj's anxiety over the ... [event]. My only criticism is that you didn't put near enough gel in his hair.

wolf 03-07-2004 02:17 PM

I prefer a black tee as well ... navy as a second choice. A lot will depend on relative costs, though. Depending on the method of production, we may have to go with a lighter color.

Ash or dove gray would probably work.

The idea of having things the same color as the screen colors has an appeal too.

zippyt 03-07-2004 05:02 PM

I think the screen colors would work as well , print in this grey purple ,
toad head comeing out of the pocket , or 3 monkeys on the pocket ( gott's to have a pocket to keep my smokes in )
CELLAR.ORG on the sleve ,
top 10 tag lines on the back

OnyxCougar 03-07-2004 06:19 PM

Why don't we make 10 with pocket and the rest without?

zippyt 03-07-2004 06:25 PM

and what about long sleve ???
Polo shirts any body ???

wolf 03-07-2004 06:26 PM

If we go with polos, the logo has to be embroidered. Screened will look lame.

(I think this officially qualifies as overdoing it. I was thrilled with the idea of a shirt with the three monkeys and typewriters on the front and a big ol' cellar.org on the back.)

And yes, I would also like a pocket for the smokes.

Yeah, no polo's but long sleeves is cool.

Elspode 03-07-2004 11:28 PM

What we seem to be developing here is a t-shirt designed by an infinite number of monkeys working on an infinite number of computers...

Bananas, anyone? :)

novice 03-08-2004 02:04 AM

How about we start at the beginning.
Who wants how many and what's the price ceiling.
I want two and i'd be willing to pay $25 Aust per shirt.
We can hammer out the vaguaries if it proves doable.
I like the "top ten tag lines" idea but I guess we need a new thread to vote on the existing ones.
UT can you post a numbered list and we can vote based on how many times the same numbers overlap.

Pi 03-08-2004 05:31 AM

I'm in too. But I don't smoke so I don't need a pocket... Color : black should be great an the 3 monkeys and as wolf said a big cellar.org somewhere...

Undertoad 03-08-2004 07:13 AM

I don't have all the tag lines, just the suggested ones.

OnyxCougar 03-08-2004 08:58 AM

Black or Grey Shirt, no pocket, monkeys on the front breast, with url, and top ten taglines on the back.

wolf 03-08-2004 10:05 AM

I don't think we need the taglines ... just the "friendly little coffee shop" statement ...

kerosene 03-08-2004 12:53 PM

I like the long sleeve T idea. I also like the black T idea, but mostly because I don't wear many light colors. I think we ought to put the monkeys on the front and White letters "The Cellar" on the back with the little tag line underneath (also in white.) I smoke, but don't like pockets on a T-shirt. Don't ask me why.

I will pay up to 30.00 for mine. As far as design goes, I like simple.

Pi 03-08-2004 02:07 PM

Yes wolf, I think that should be best...

lumberjim 03-08-2004 02:16 PM

design your own t shirt

lumberjim 03-08-2004 02:34 PM

heres mine

pretty cool site..6 is the minimum quantity.

i say we all take our time and design a shirt, then we can take a vote.

you can mix up what kind of shirt, add names and numbers, etc.

warch 03-08-2004 04:25 PM

I think Undertoad should be "implied" by embracing a field of dark murky blue-green, 100% beefy T cotton, like the deep relentless ocean. ( then the 3 monkey/ typwriter bit in grey, small, understated, no text.) muy elegante.

Here I like "Blue Dusk" or also "Oceana". But the darker makes more sense, perhaps a choice...Lurkers go Oceana....http://www.cheapestees.com/giluloctheav1.html

i like that, cougar. my first attempt had the logo like yours on the front, but somehow it came out in tru color the 2nd time. i think i'd put the website under the logo on the breast, though, and make the "friendly little..." larger on the back

OnyxCougar 03-08-2004 04:41 PM

I think the front logo with a toad peeking over the top of it, with little toad fingers holding the logo up like a sign. The toad is Under the cellar. :)

I cant draw tho.

lumberjim 03-08-2004 04:42 PM

oh, yeah...i drew one last night that is perfect for that.

i'll post it tonight when i get home. it would have to go above the logo, though, as i traced it from a toad that was peeking over a log.

OnyxCougar 03-08-2004 04:44 PM
