I found the violence in Utopia too much on camera and too prolonged. In Pulp Fiction it is more like the violence in James Bond films or a good old-fashioned Western.

When I rewatched Pulp Fiction I found two things

One, the great Samuel L Jackson scene is not only devastating because of Samuel L Jackson, but because Frank Whaley, who plays Brett ("Look at the big brain on Brett!"), does some brilliant acting being all anxious.

Two, the really intense scenes are great but it's weird -- because there are also a few scenes where there's a lot of nothing going on at times. I think he does that because it amps up the intense scenes.

Absolutely. Brett. Marvin. (I just shot Marvin in the face!)

It is the 'lot of nothing' scenes that set us up. And when you watch it again and again, you're in awe of the dialogue. Vincent and Jules at the diner, for instance. And it turns out that the scene goes all the way back to the beginning of the movie. Pumpkin.

I like how something bad happens every time Vincent goes to the bathroom.

And The Wolf, gotta love The Wolf.

Pulp Fiction ahhh - awesome movie.

I was on acid the first time I saw it. Verrry immersive. I was at my bro's house. At the time J and I still lived in Lancashire and were having issues. I got back from that trip to Yorkshire with a headful of Pulp Fiction and a determination to move us to Halifax.

Can't believe that was two decades ago. Bloody hell.

.. spent 5 hours driving a measly 165 motorway miles getting from Derby, in the north midlands of England, back home - that's an average of 33 mph. Considering that the non-motorway miles I had to cover was less than 10. I reckon that's a pretty good indication of the inadequate state of our primary road system.

Happy Birthday bro. All society asks is that we pretend to have our shit together so my plan has been to fake it from 40-60 and then claim old-timer status, hell, I'm half-way home.
