I am a network admin at home AND at work...stuck with IE at work, but do run Firefox off a USB key. At home I use Firefox on Linux, the BEST way to surf safely

I am a semi-IT pro (currently an independent technician, and starting a 2-year CCNA course this Fall), and I swear by FireFox.

I am also a web developer, and could give a few words to the school: YOU MORONS! ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have an IE-compatible site. There's not enough FireFox users for sites to be FF-only.

On the topic of school websites - I need to beg our webmaster to let me redesign our school site... Ugh!

I'm the same as glatt. I use Firefox primarily and only use IE to do Windows updates.

I think if there was half the malware written for Firefox that is currently out there right now for Internet Explorer, Firefox would cease to exist. As Mozilla gains favor, there will be an inevitble rise of malware.

I have this bowser at home:

Sorry couldn't resist. I always had IE at home, and I am not an IT professional (I don't even play one on TV)

Anyone have the mozilla firefox t shirt? My friend has it, and if I had it I too wouldn't mind wearing it in public.

kinda skipped ahead, but firefox has a plugin that allows it to run as IE. check the mozilla site and it'll point you in the right direction.

Yeah!

I used to use IE, but came across websites a little too often that weren't compatible. So I switched to Netscape, and don't have any problems...

Why are the Netscape users so few? Is there something wrong with it that I don't know about?

Mozilla is Netscape but better. I don't know if there's anything wrong with Netscape, but there's a whole lot that's right with Mozilla.

Firefox 2 is too bloated.

I am still a Firefox devotee and install it on as many computers as possible, but after running FF 2 for a while, I realized how slow it was and how much memory it devours.
I've been using Flock now, and it's much faster and is using about half the memory.

(I think Flock is a branch of the Firefox 1.5 source.)

Can I hijack this thread to ask which browser I should use?

I want a light secure browser I can play music and video files from.
Maybe I just need a good IE toolbar?
