I've been really enjoying Jim's Knock Knock thread. Lots of excellent Dwellar name punnery.

This one though stands out for me:

yes you have!

I have definitely put stuff of yours in here before now. And I am pretty sure I've seen other people post your stuff in here too.

Is it vain to put yourself into the Hall O' Fame? It is? Good, I'm going to.

Hark! Hark!
Is that the landshark?
Knocking on my door is he wanting more
Flesh?

The peephole doesn't help people
Distinguish between dolphin and shark
Is it a harmless mammal
Or a fish knocking on doors in the dark?

Don't! Stop!
Don't open that door!
And don't go into that basement
It's full of monsters galore. At least FOUR!

And also don't move to Amityville.

There is a poem out there, that makes me cry every time... because its true. While I don't know where you got your new baby Scout from, I do know I got Aesa from a home 2 hours before she was taken to the SPCA. This poem hits home, and maybe when you have your " wow, do you ever rest?" times with Scout you can think back to it. Its helped me with my "rescue".

I Rescued A Human Today
Author: Janine Allen

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor
peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident
I had in the back of my cage.
I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today.
Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy
and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card,
I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past.
I only have the future to look forward to
and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.
I shoved my shoulder and side of my head
up against the bars to comfort her.
Gentle fingertips caressed my neck;
she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw
to assure her that all would be well.
Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright
that I instantly jumped into her arms.

I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could
to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.
So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.
So many more to be saved.
At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.
Welcome to the Hall of Fame Jaydaan. Your advice is very good, but I shoulda brought tissues.

While in medical school and residency I did extra work in psychiatry, always on the inpatient wards with the most severely ill patients. I saw successes and failures of treatment. I saw that these diseases were and are heartbreaking. I worked with a man who had the delusion that he needed to stare at the sun so that an alien race would perceive him and land in Canada to rescue him. He had stared at the sun long enough that he had gone blind.

But, never mind. Why should I share the experiences of people in pain and fear with you, when your only concern is for a puerile one-upmanship?

I'd hoped to have an actual conversation, but you're always and only about the put-downs and one-ups. At your age, that's sad.
orthodoc, welcome to the Hall of Fame.

You articulate most eloquently and poetically a thought I've often had about sexobon's posts.

I think it's a shame really, because sexobon has revealed his great intelligence from time to time but prefers instead to play the acerbic court jester. I say unfortunate because I, too, prefer actual conversations on substantive subjects. I appreciate humor too. You consistently show a balance of both that is a credit to you and a benefit to the cellar overall. I'm glad you're here.

Well, it's a shame that not every one lives up to your high hopes for them, Judge V.

Putting someone in the hall of fame because they agree with your judgements is a bit self serving by the way. Also... it illuminates what a crock this thread is. Could we please put 'Big V's ' on the front of this thread title?

Actually I also thought it was a well-written and well-informed post.
Depends what you think of as deserving Hall of Fame status.

I so rarely post here because it's the puns, the word-play and the turns of phrase that make a post for me. And there are so many of them. And no-one ever posts my bon-mots here so sod you all.

I like a well argued slightly cross but non-confrontational post here for me to consider.
