Video editor

I picked up a video camera for Christmas, looking for some suggestions on a decent video editor that won't break the bank. I've been trying some with free downloads on 30 day trials, but haven't been to impressed with the ease of use. Maybe they are all like that? So I figured I would see what others are using before I commit money to one.

Thanks

I don't know if it's any good, but Adobe Premier Elements goes for less than $100, or slightly more if you get it in a bundle with Photoshop Elements. I have some ulead stuff than came with my external video capture device. It's not horrible, but I only use it for the most basic "capture the video, chop off what I don't want, burn it on a DVD", and I'm not sure it'd be good for much more.

Thanks. My only hesitation with Adobe, is nothing of theirs is easy. It always seems very complicated until you get it. I was hoping to find something that might be quick and easy also.

I was hoping someone out there had been using something that was simple easy :lol

Thanks again.

Are you running Windows XP? Have you tried the included Microsoft Video Editor (or whatever they call it)?

I use this:

Pretty short learning curve as compared to Adobe, but all of them take some time to learn.

Yeah, that one. I played with it once at work. I don't use Windows at home, so I'm using other applications for that.

Sorry was away for a few days. I did download the MS one. It kept locking up, even on the home PC which is way more then it calls for. It was a worth a try for free, thanks.

I have an old copy of pinnacle, I forget which version, it was very easy to use. I did try to use it, there is a sound issue, it is no longer supported and I couldn't find if there was a driver or anything to get it to work.

I will try the newer version.

Thanks

Check daily on http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ . It seems that 1/2 the time lately has been screensavers and the other half is picture or video editors.

Here is the wiki link of free video editors. I've been playing with an AVISynth/Virtualdub combo and like it.

Warlord,

Here are some other potential programs. One I haven't played with, one I've only used a tiny bit.

OpenVIP - http://openvip.sourceforge.net/
Avidemux - http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/

Adobe Premiere is not what you need if you are unfamiliar with pro editing, and in fact is a world of pain for most people. Including some pros. Also it is an unnecessary cost. Why pay $50 a month when you can buy outright all you need for a one off?. I do not accept that Adobe is the only option here. If I was starting from scratch I would definitely go for https://wave.video. Its cheaper, and easier to learn and likely be more productive.

That seems kind of spammy, being your first post and all, but it’s on target so...

Welcome to the Cellar, Spencer.
