The NSA has stolen your cellar

sexobon 01-20-2015 10:02 PM

Can the admin and moderators move threads from a Social Group to the Forums?

If so, could they move just the opening post of such a thread that way?

I'm asking because it would be nice if we could simply have an IOTD Social Group where dwellars could post either IOTD thread ready pictures with narratives; or, just links to pictures for any volunteers to make ready. Everyone would have to understand that these would not be discussion threads (no replies to the OP) so that Social Group threads could be easily moved to IOTD.

If; however, the Social Group OPs alone could be moved to IOTD, even though there are replies, then everyone could appraise the images posted.

Just a thought.

lumberjim 01-21-2015 12:24 AM

Dude, do you even lift?

regular.joe 01-21-2015 07:58 AM

I bet he's a crossfitter.

Undertoad 01-21-2015 08:15 AM

Moving between social groups and regular forums can't be done.

"fervor" is misspelled in this cookie.

Occasionally, I want to find a specific pic (Attachment)
and I may have only a vague recollection of when it was posted,
who posted it, or which thread it was in. e.g., "Where is this ?

When I go into the "Pictures and Albums, I see only my own Username,
and not even all the pics that I have posted .

Is there a way to search or scan the entire database's gallery of pictures ?

Or, does anyone know of a way to find images based on a Range of Dates, or on a given poster's Username ?

I know about:
Advanced Search based on "text",
Advanced Search based on UserName + "text",

Search this Thread + Advanced Search based on UserName,
Search this Thread + Advanced Search based on UserName + text,

Any ideas ?

Undertoad 03-23-2015 01:47 PM

There isn't a good way I know of. I can search on things in the Admin control panel but that type of search didn't make it into the Advanced Search at all.

Just so I'm thinking right...

Attachment 50747

This means that 8,489 people right-clicked, then clicked 'Save image as...', and saved this pic to their hard drive?

Undertoad 03-23-2015 02:31 PM

No I think it's views; the system wouldn't know the difference between requests whether it was for download or for viewing.

glatt 03-23-2015 02:38 PM

This isn't such a good way, but you can do searches through google images of pictures in the Cellar.

That is obviously a collection assembled by some very sick minds. :eyebrow:

Gravdigr 03-24-2015 02:19 PM

You get others' pics in that sort of search as well. I noticed a few of my own in there.

henry quirk 04-30-2015 10:23 AM

Added a signature line...saved it...not showing up...what am I doin' wrong?

-----

HA!

There it is...problem solved.

henry quirk 04-30-2015 10:39 AM

That's interesting: the sig line appears on posts made after the change but not on posts made before the change

Never saw that happen before.

henry quirk 04-30-2015 10:41 AM

But: deleting the sig line obliterates it from any post.

Wacky computer world.

BigV 04-30-2015 10:42 AM

it is normal. I found the same behavior awhile back and I was similarly puzzled.

Lamplighter 04-30-2015 10:48 AM

I suspect...

it's the difference between no sig Line and a different sig line.
When you change a sig line your previous postings (with a sig line) update to show the new version.

Not so.

Here's an old thread, with posts by me that have differing signature lines.

Ummm...

When I view that link, I see your sig line only on your last post !
(pg 3)

BigV 04-30-2015 01:02 PM

yes, that's my point. sigline changes are universal in their effect. some posts will contain them, some will not. the effect is not universally retroactive.

Can we name the Cellar banner monkey "Idic"?

I know/realize that YouTube and many other sites use the Adobe Flash Player
to collect data about the User's activities on that website, and such data is
eventually shared among advertisers.

Personally, I've elected to not allow AFP to activate storage
... unless or until I deliberately activate it on a website I trust.

And today, I noticed wording in the Alert Message that surprised me.
“Allow www. Cellar.org to run Adobe Flash ”

Attachment 51821

Is this due to the particular video embedded on that specific posting,
or is such data routinely being collected/stored on The Cellar ?

Undertoad 05-29-2015 08:00 PM

Yes, the particular video was on Vimeo, which still uses Flash to show video, as opposed to Youtube, which is using new, different video types.

xoxoxoBruce 05-29-2015 09:03 PM

I don't believe the Cellar is collecting/storing anything.

Undertoad 05-30-2015 09:33 AM

We are the one social media that doesn't give a shit about "collecting" anything from you. Now please list your blood lab numbers.

And fill the tip mug :D

infinite monkey 06-05-2015 01:30 PM

wtf is Untangle Server and why is it suddenly displaying its icon on the cellar tab?

Undertoad 06-05-2015 02:54 PM

Not us. Need screen shot.

infinite monkey 06-05-2015 03:05 PM

I'm running Norton right now. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

infinite monkey 07-22-2015 12:11 PM

How do you resize a picture (it's 3.46 MB) so that I can post it on the Cellar. I used to compress with Microsoft picture viewer or whatever it was (I can't even remember the name of that default program I used to use) but now I can't find any such option on either paint or photo viewer. I can't download a new program, because this is at work. Any ideas?

Spexxvet 07-22-2015 12:39 PM

Irfanview

Oh, thanks glatt. Mine showed up as just the box on top of another box, and I didn't realize it meant resize until I hovered over it after your post. So, thanky thanks!

classicman 07-23-2015 02:50 PM

Looks that way when you have the window collapsed

Gravdigr 09-25-2015 01:41 PM

Somewhere on this site exists a thread about game cams, game cameras, game camera pictures, trail cams, trail cameras, trail cam pictures, deer cams, deer cameras, deer camera pictures or some motherfucking combination thereof...If someone could confirm that I have not imagined this thread, I would be grateful. I just want to know that I am not, in fact, losing my goddamned mind.

DanaC 09-25-2015 02:06 PM

It's not this one is it?

I thought the same. I went through the 'threads started by Big Sarge', and, found no love. Might have been started by The Mercenary. I checked his threads too, to no avail.

Thanks anyway Feller Dwellars, maybe I did imagine it.

Gravdigr 09-26-2015 02:38 PM

Sunuvabitch!

Foooooouuuuuund iiiit!!!!

Don't know why I didn't think of this yesterday.

I Googled it. Sixth search result.

Ima idjit.

Thanks again.

Is this number of visits from this machine or is this my lifetime visits under this account?
Attachment 53737

Seems really high if it's from this machine, but I am in the Cellar a lot.

Undertoad 10-15-2015 10:41 AM

I wonder if it's counting each page loaded.

glatt 10-15-2015 10:49 AM

I open each unread thread in a new tab. I just looked again after opening three new threads and the number increased by 4. New posts, thread 1, thread 2, thread 3.

So does it use cookie data on this machine alone, or is it all devices?

xoxoxoBruce 10-15-2015 11:08 AM

I clear my cookies several times a day. You have my permission to check my account to see what it says, if you wish.

glatt 10-15-2015 11:15 AM

so you type in your password every time you come to the Cellar?

Yes, I do. And I open pages in tabs as well sometimes 12-15 at a time.

xoxoxoBruce 10-15-2015 12:26 PM

Ah, didn't think of that. :smack: No, my password is stored on my computer. Ccleaner gives me the option to store selected cookies in a set aside section, exempt from cleaning. I keep two sites in that section, one being here. nevermind

Check the anonymous account. If the number of website visits is high, then it's all devices.

Undertoad 10-15-2015 05:54 PM

Firefox wouldn't use cookie data to compile this number. It would do its own counting.

Carruthers 11-04-2015 06:55 AM

PM Email notifications

I've received a number of PMs over the past few days but in each case the Email notification function doesn't appear to have been triggered.

I've checked my settings and the necessary box is ticked so I'm not sure what is going on.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Undertoad 11-04-2015 07:14 AM

Um yeah I broke that.

Should be fixed soon

Many thanks for that UT.

I'm grateful to you.

Undertoad 11-04-2015 08:08 AM

Well dang I should break and then fix more stuff. :D

xoxoxoBruce 11-04-2015 01:35 PM

Maybe you can code temporary breaks, self healing even. :haha:
