the bounce in posts, obviously correlates to new members' impact. Both from their actual posts, and the replies thereto. i guess the trend is generally increasing....can you do a nice chart with this, tony?

Flint 06-10-2007 09:06 PM

I thought the hits from IotD had more to do with increased activity at certain times. Though I don't know if that translates to more actual posts.

busterb 06-10-2007 09:08 PM

I joined the 07-04-2004 and see no ground shaking change.

Flint 06-10-2007 09:10 PM

Yeah, jumbo, why is your theory bein' a dick to buster like that? Nice one, Einstein.

well, on average, you'd have increased the count by at least 45 posts.... keep fighting the good fight.

Of course I can, thanks for asking!

Flint 06-10-2007 09:44 PM

I would like to see appearances of LabRat's ass plotted on that chart, if possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if -when graphed- the data took on the shape of LabRat's ass. Or Mr Labrat's knob at the very least. Maybe both....

monster 06-10-2007 09:51 PM

Hmmm I joined in Dec 2005 -coinciding with the end of a lull. Conclusion: I breathed new life into the board and revitalized it. Worship me! :D

It doesn't look like LabRat's ass, but it does have an upward trend: the same thing I get when I look at LabRat's ass.

Thanks Cf - could you normalize that to the presidential approval ratings, and group by forum?

Clodfobble 06-11-2007 09:48 AM

Sure, if you'd like to type up the Presidential chart in text form for me--really just the Bush years, shouldn't be too hard. :)

In the member's list what does it mean when the date of the last visit is "N/A?"

Cloud 06-14-2007 10:41 PM

where does it tell you your average daily posts?

I don't know - who's last visit is like that? Maybe they never confirmed their account?

I thought it meant they had "stealth mode" turned on so you couldn't tell when they are logged in. Last visit becomes n/a.

On "my other site" that's what you get if the user has chosen to hide when they are online. I don't know if this is an option here, but it maybe , 'cause I've noticed lj seems to make a lot of posts without being online. Not that I'm stalking him or anything.....

Shawnee123 06-15-2007 10:29 AM

I have a question. Could we get a asshat-o-meter, and start throwing those below a certain level into a cesspool or something? Just wondering.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS SITE: Have you all gone stark raving mad?

Cloud 06-15-2007 04:13 PM

if we say yes, does that mean we exist?

Flint 06-15-2007 04:15 PM

It would mean that an image has formed in my brain of the radiation from my computer monitor hitting my eyeballs in such a way that suggests that some pixels have formed into an arrangement representing a sentence inside a little box. So many assumptions there... . . .

Cloud 06-15-2007 04:17 PM

so . . . who are you talking to?

Flint 06-15-2007 04:18 PM

I'm not talking.

Cloud 06-15-2007 04:21 PM

mumbling? exhorting? cavorting?

Cloud 06-15-2007 10:48 PM

Just right now there are 9 members and 454 guests!

That's a HELL of a lot of guests! I feel outnumbered.

xoxoxoBruce 06-15-2007 11:18 PM

514 now. Bwahahahahahahahahaha.

Cloud 06-15-2007 11:20 PM

is that usual?

(thinks to herself--maybe they're all looking at my boob)

xoxoxoBruce 06-15-2007 11:48 PM

No, it's not.
Yes, they are.

Ha, don't feel self-conscious, Cloud. It's gotta be hard not to when you've just posted something so personal.

I'm sure some folks come in for voyeuristic reasons, but they'd still be all over the boards, probably. And look at that lot in IoTD. We know that a lot of viewers there have slown things down.

On too many boards there will be huge numbers of guests or sometimes lurkers from the registered members pool. It would be nice if a few of these people would step forward more often, but think how awful it would be if all of them did.

There's a craft board that I hit once in a while when there's something I want to look up. Perhaps it will be something I've posted in the past, or a word I need for elsewhere, maybe a particular facet of something where I need to RTFM. I don't log in, just visit and cruise, then depart without a comment. It doesn't indicate my lack of interest in the board, or my overweening interest in one topic or photo, or my secret indulgence in lurking. There's just not that much intent in what I am doing there at that point in time.

I haven't checked the times, but perhaps that huge spike last night was due to Nightsong's latest. Or not.

The Election? Looks like pre-election Octobers are high.

My PM options were set to restricted.

I doubt anyone was trying to PM me but if so my appologies.

I read snopes regularly, and although I have a login on their forum I mostly read as a guest. The Glurge Gallery forum can make me ruin my keyboard but I can't devote enough time to post there regularly, and IMHO it's better to be an outsider than an ignored poster...!

BigV 06-27-2007 10:05 AM

What is the time window for editing a post, and why is it less than 24 hours?

Undertoad 06-27-2007 10:11 AM

It's 12 hours, strikes a balance between people being able to fix errors and people being able to retract what has already been put out there.

BigV 06-27-2007 10:14 AM

Thank you.

Cloud 07-03-2007 09:07 AM

:morncoff: I noticed in the advanced search screen there's a box that says, "check child forum."

We have a child forum?

Undertoad 07-03-2007 02:50 PM

It's jargon. "Child forum" refers to any forum that is a "sub-forum" in some way, so if you searched the child forums of the "images" category, you'd search both image of the day and quality images.

Cloud 07-03-2007 03:04 PM

oh, I get it. duh.

thanks!
