No, it's the chickens the mm raised from eggs with 4H. Two of them are roosters and roosters aren't allowed in the village. Now I have to find a home for them or surreptitiously kill them and get them in the freezer w/o the mm finding out. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment to get all into a wintertime butcher project.
The roosters are incredibly loud and contrary to TV cartoon wisdom, the crow all the time, even 3 am. I suspect it has to do with the streetlights imitating dawn. And on top of it the ZEO got on my case about fence setbacks for the chicken run. I pointed out it was my garden fence and the chickens were using the garden FTTB. |
What a hassle. Sorry man.
Why do you have to get the roosters in the freezer? Can't you just kill them and throw them away? |

It's a hard thing to let go of but would be a simple life improvement.

With enough Scotch you can do anything. ;)

Kill the cocks, drive around an find a couple of hungry farm dogs. No roosters and no wasted meat.

Yes, tie them to the back bumper then...

What might be making me a tad apprehensive, but might not, as it's too soon to tell?
My finger. I injured it almost a month ago. The index finger on my dominant hand doesn't move away from the middle finger with any strength at all. I overtaxed it during a night of rope climbing with the Scouts. I spent hours belaying others, and while holding the rope tightly for hours on end, making sure they didn't fall to their deaths, I started to feel a mild burning sensation between my thumb and index finger. That finger hasn't worked right ever since. No numbness at all. All the sensations are there, it just doesn't move in one specific direction. It feels fine though. No pain. I finally got around to seeing a doctor this morning, for a routine physical, and asked him about it. He confirmed that it was fucked up and gave me the names of some specialists. I had switched to a very high deductible insurance plan a year ago to save money on outrageously expensive premiums, and I'm almost certain that this will not be covered by insurance until I meet that $3k deductible. So I'm a tad apprehensive that I might need surgery followed by a long recovery with an immobilized dominant hand, and that it will cost a lot. But it's too soon to tell. |
you're contributing to an HSA though, aren't you? You can spend that money on the cost of care.
|
I'm apprehensive because a year long goal is coming down to the wire.
I aimed to hit $1million in gross profit across my desk for the year. I'm at $993,493 at this moment with maybe 10 more deals to go. I average $794 per deal for the year, so IF these last 10 deals are average, I'll hit it. if they are weak (which is more likely for the end of December deals) I may JUST miss it. nothing riding on it other than bragging rights, but I'd hate to come up >< this close and miss it. |

But it's too soon to tell. I hope you hit your sales target! |
when I switched to an HSA, I put the max allowed into it. but not all at once.... I looked at the difference between the HSA plan and the regular plan, and put the difference in each week.
I think the regular weekly premium was $245, and the HSA was $125, so I put $120 per week into the HSA until it hit $6250. Once I had $3000 in there, I felt a lot better. The max out of pocket is $6k...if shit gets really real... But after 2 years of the HSA, I still have over $5k in there. And I had to use the whole $3k deductible this year. anyway. I hope your finger is not ligament damage. or if it is, that it's reparable. sorry about your finger, in other words |

Glatt, if the ligament isn't torn then rest and PT may be all you need.
Otherwise, the MRI should easily get you up to 3K. I hope it's the former. With my shoulders, the SOP with the specialist is to give a shot of cortisone and see if that helps, then they gradually ramp up. It's weird that there is no pain. Keep us posted. Oh and you need to update your climbing gear. |
looking at the deals that have been delivered, but not booked, I think I have about 996K on the books. There are 5 deals still to deliver. 2 F&I guys. If I can get 3 of the 5...the RIGHT 3... I think I might hit it. One is a 2 car deal with a gut I've done twice before. He buys GAP and I should have some reserve. Count those for maybe $1200 each, and then I need $1800 between whatever else I can get. I may have to go back through and see if there are any deals in the system that I did, but didn't hang my number on.
|
Hope you make it, but glad the consequences of not making it only damage the ego and not the wallet.
@glatt.. warm and moist. |
Jim, perhaps it's time to buy another vehicle, from yourself.
|
You can do it Jim!

Last count was $996,884. If I get the 2 car NV deal, I will probably end up at 998,xxx.
That's what is in deals on our doc report. I just remembered that when a customer comes in and buys a warranty for the car they bought a year or two ago, it does not show on that report. I probably did 5 or 6 grand last year in walk ins. Still would have liked to roll that number over on the doc. It's like an old odometer. 6 places for digits. One million looks like 000,000. My counter part did 000,083. But he is Jewish, so he's a little better at this than I am. |
Go Jim Go!!!

What is there to be better at? I mean, I get that you are good at your job, but being good at your particular job doesn't raise the sales price, since that was already negotiated by the salesman, right? Do you mean he's better at snagging and finishing out the deals from the salesmen with the higher profit margins?
|
Sneaks in and works on Easter and Christmas. :haha:

(I thought you are a comedian.):p: |
Oh sure sure, I got that, but still he's talking about a genuine sense of competition, which doesn't make sense if you're just processing what's handed to you.
But now I've had more time to think about it, and I bet it's all about the undercoating and the extended warranties, right? Salesmen don't push that, the finance guys do. |
ZACKLY.
I don't try very hard to sell things that people probably don't need. I'll scare you into buying GAP if you finance more than 100% of the car almost every time, and I believe in service contracts most of the time on cars..... But I have a hard time pushing key insurance. He has no such compunctions. To him, it's about money. the end. It's ok that he's better at that one facet of the job. He's also the most likely to die by friendly fire....except for maybe one other guy that everyone hates because he's INSANE. |
Good luck Jim!
Sorry bout your finger, glatt. |
I got a job. full time. and learned today it starts on Wednesday. it's all come little suddenly. I've been a stay-at-home-mom for nearly 18 years -since I got my PhD.
It's not a PhD job, it's an Admin-ish job in a supermarket, but it's good $ for such a thing. it's a new store, a chain from another state, this is the first in MI. It isn't open yet. I saw a series of ads online (Craigslist) looking for general workers for the various departments and applied without my usual procrastination and with complete honesty about my background and needs using their generic form in case they had something to suit me. And apparently they did. I only wanted part-time though, but this position is full time. I don't even know about hours and vacation and shit. They employed me with no resume, no references, no drug test, no background check..... so I kinda felt that they see my worth so that has to be a good omen, right? No idea how it's all going to pan out re school runs etc, but with one going to uni next year I needed to get a job. This just feels a bit sledgehammer-to-crack-a-nut-ish. Gonna have to get a third car with the first few paychecks :( ...or some snowshoes ;) |
Hey cool
|
Awesome! I hope it turns out to be a really invigorating change.
|
thanks guys :)
|
Yay!
|
Cool, like clod said , hoping this winds up being good for wallet and soul. :thumb:
|
Cool. Good luck.
|
Kewl good for you monster.
|
Wow! That's a big change. Congratulations. Very exciting.
|
That is awesome! You're going to rock it!
|
On second thought, having monster for a boss... week after week the staff shaves seconds off their personal best job performance... with the slowest sent to the meat department. Fair but deadly comes to mind. :haha:
|
Quote:
Monster, that is really great news! And I am sure they *didn't* see all of what they're getting. I think they probably said "Huh, no red flags here, let's hire this one for the office staff, and keep on moving down the list." Any generic application you filled out is solidly in the under-promise/over-deliver zone. You know. They'll see. Congratulations!!!! |
it was the number nerd thing they liked -my job to make sure all the products scan correctly, UPCs etc are correct, and shelf labels are correct and sales labels are timely etc. not necessary my job to do all of those things personally, but I won't really be the boss of anyone, I'll just have shitty jobs for them when they're sent over (because they've been bad somewhere else ;) ). Detention Mistress if you like :D
But knowing my luck I'll arrive on Weds and it will be nothing like that..... but at least there can't possibly be any predecessor's shit to sort out.... can there?  |
Right, you'll be setting precedents daily, or do it Wednesday then say just do it like we always have. :thumb:
|
Congrats Monster! Welcome to the workforce.
Now you'll have some new ass to kick. ;) |
Was to have lunch with my granddaughter tomorrow and she put it off till Thursday. Best laid plains are WTF. But it saved me from looking for my cleanest dirty shirt and shaving in morning.:jig:
|
Apparently I'm going to MO next week. to train. Right near the Bud factory :D
|
Minifob started drum lessons today. Lord have mercy.
|
yay minifob. Most excellent :D
|
She get good and then you'll miss the beats when she's not around.:sniff:
|
It's so nice when they start to get good. Hearing pleasant music instead of grating noise is such a treat.
|
Way to go minfob:)
@ monster: only just read your news. hope it goes well; sounds like it might be a really nice change of pace. |
