I was referring to the fish that were walking on land with their fins/tail....

lumberjim 02-16-2010 01:44 PM

MUDSKIPPERS?

lumberjim 03-02-2010 01:06 AM

I'll give you $20 to put the youtube buttons on the quick reply box header .

Undertoad 03-02-2010 08:26 AM

That's a done deal

lumberjim 03-02-2010 08:30 AM

sweet.

Pie 03-02-2010 09:37 AM

Crap. Now we're going to get nothing by YT from LJ.

monster 03-02-2010 09:39 AM

Maybe you could pay $30 to get them taken away again?

Pete Zicato 03-02-2010 09:55 AM

Bidding war!

Undertoad 03-02-2010 09:59 AM

Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!

How do the attachments work these days?

I thought that if you had an image that was too large to attach, it was simply rejected. But over in the most recent treasure hunt thread, I was going to try to see what the least amount of compression I could get away with on an image is. I tried to upload a 211KB image, just to see if it would work, and it was accepted, but the image became a 76KB image, with horrible artifacts. I thought that was weird, so I deleted that, compressed mine some more and , tried uploading a 192KB image. It too was accepted, but was also compressed into a 76KB image. Then I tried doing a 134KB image, and it looks like that was accepted as is.

What is the file size limit? And will the program accept anything larger than that but simply compress it into a 76KB file?

Undertoad 04-29-2010 03:50 PM

The filesize limits are 180k and 1600 wide or high. The system attempts to resize any image beyond those sizes.

glatt 04-29-2010 03:52 PM

Thank you!

WTF? Did she die or something?

Undertoad 05-03-2010 09:19 AM

That's awesome. Well there's no big news except that she has a new album coming out tomorrow, and that image here is #10 in Yahoo! Image Search which is where the traffic is coming from.

Here are the top phrases that people have used to get to the Cellar in the last day:

Shawnee123 05-03-2010 09:24 AM

That's interesting! I always wonder about the guests, and what brings them here.

monster 05-03-2010 10:04 AM

camel spider?

monster 05-03-2010 10:18 AM

Shawnee, look away

"how much does it cost to build a fence" HAHAHAHAHHAaaaaaaahhhh

Loved that thread.

jinx 05-03-2010 10:47 AM

There is always someone reading that fence thread. It's kinda creepy...

Shawnee123 05-03-2010 10:53 AM

Is there another fence thread? I remembered this one:

http://www.cellar.org/showthread.php...ght=fence+yard

I noticed that too. I find it amazing. I mean out of all the threads on here, that one seems to get so much play.

Shawnee123 05-03-2010 11:14 AM

Nope, can't find a thread called "how much does it cost to build a fence" can only find "how much does it cost to fence a yard." Of course, my search skills might be off.

The only reason I remember it was because of the subsequent jokes regarding the phrasing: "fencing" as selling stolen property, etc.

I guess my memory only sucks sorta, not completely. ;)

That's because most people want to keep wetbacks out.

Shawnee123 05-03-2010 11:51 AM

Bwahhhaaahaaa!

monster 05-03-2010 01:17 PM

The guests are all viewing the Braxton Dress thread right now. Maybe she should consider wearing a fence next time?

Spexxvet 05-03-2010 01:23 PM

When you google "how much does it cost to build a fence" this is the #1 response

Shawnee123 05-03-2010 01:25 PM

Ahh, thank you...I figured it was something like that, not really mysterious. You've explained the difference in wording as well.

UT,

Are you responsible for this? If not, you should play the Illinois Lottery instant games: It seems that you'd be a natural.

To buy tickets, just put money in the beer mug (below).

I'm having a weird problem with some aspects of posting to the Cellar. When I create a new thread or reply to a post, none of the buttons seem to work on the form for creating a post. You click on them and they do nothing. I can't insert image links, do youtube embedding, insert one of the smilies, etc. And in the "attach files" box, the button to click to attach files doesn't even exist.

This is in Firefox 3.6.3 on my work computer. My home PC works fine and I think it's got the same version of Firefox.

If I switch over to Chrome on my work PC, everything works fine.

Any idea what is going on? I let the computer update Shockwave in the last few days. That's the only thing different I can think of.

Undertoad 05-19-2010 10:36 AM

I dunno. Turned Javascript off?

The box is checked to have java enabled.

Does this mean anything obvious? These are the errors I found when I open a Cellar reply window. I don't understand any of this stuff. I may have to switch to Chrome for the Cellar.

toranokaze 05-27-2010 02:36 PM

How long are post stored?

Undertoad 05-27-2010 02:54 PM

I'd love to say forever, but once I die, there'll be about three months of unanswered invoices until they pull the plug on the cage.

Clodfobble 05-27-2010 03:22 PM

Oh come on, surely you have the datacenter information and account number written into your will? Someone would take care of it.

Undertoad 05-27-2010 03:36 PM

They would have to figure out how the tip jar works, otherwise my assets won't cover the bill.

classicman 06-01-2010 04:23 PM

There were 76 (if I counted right) "Guests" viewing this thread
February 24, 2007: Massive sinkhole in Guatemala
and only 1 visiting the current one.

Undertoad 06-01-2010 04:32 PM

Since that thread is linked from the current IotD it may be spiders indexing.

TheDaVinciChode 06-01-2010 08:56 PM

I have a question...

... How long has this website been running? (Or, rather; How old is the oldest post on this forum?)

Also - Did the forum come, before the IotD? Or after?

So many questions.

I love this forum, and the IotD... Been browsing both, for years, 'til I finally took the plunge, and became a member. Y'all were very intimidating, somewhat like an elitist "old boys" club... Some of you still seem that way, but, for the most part, you're all very kind, incredibly weird individuals.

I think, what I love most about this place... Is that you'll let just about anyone have whatever opinion they want. Everyone has a home, and no one is left out, or even (fully) shunned, by the community.

... 'cept Republicans... But, then, that's their fault, isn't it? ;)

Undertoad 06-01-2010 09:05 PM

The Cellar history

tl;dr: Started in Sept. 1990 as a local BBS; first public access to Usenet and email in Philadelphia; converted to telnet; then to the web in self-written software; then to vBulletin in Jan. 2001.

Cloud 06-01-2010 11:49 PM

you da man!

God-damn... It's been on-line as long as I have.

... and it's almost as old as me!

Cellar, I salute you.

I'd say it's time for an update to that history.

And they all lived happily ever after?

Undertoad 06-02-2010 03:39 PM

What to say though?

The increased IotD interest
- the foam
The addition of chat
The addition of moderators
The addition of the tip mug
The products: T-shirts, mugs, Monster calendar
The Cellar Car

classicman 06-02-2010 03:55 PM

yeh - all of that.

LJ 06-02-2010 06:15 PM

Hasn't the server changed also?

Undertoad 06-02-2010 06:34 PM

Several times, but all the behind the scenes stuff, I dunno how interesting that is for people.

(And I always hesitate to describe the current platforms in case people are just looking to hack.)

TheDaVinciChode 06-02-2010 07:57 PM

I have another question! A question so poignant, so incredibly urgent, that it boggles the mind!

... How many original Cellarites are still around?

Undertoad 06-02-2010 08:04 PM

I think the number is about 6 amongst regulars, and there are also a handful that just check in from time to time.

TheDaVinciChode 06-02-2010 08:16 PM

That's really impressive.

Thank you, Mister Undertoad, for creating a unique place for people to be themselves.

You'd think, with the Internet as it is, that such places would be abundant... they really aren't.

You must get it, all the time, but - I truly appreciate all the work you've put into this place, and everyone who's helped make this such a welcoming, unique, truly awesome community.

Undertoad 06-02-2010 08:23 PM

Thank you in return! I hope you continue to enjoy the place!

TheMercenary 06-04-2010 10:16 AM

Here is a question for ya..

Has there ever been an inquiry by a law enforcement agency as to posts that were made on the Cellar?

Undertoad 06-04-2010 11:58 AM

Nope.

They don't have to inquire. All information gets analyzed in real time before it reaches the server. Thank you GWB.

classicman 06-04-2010 01:53 PM

Good!

God is probably making inquiries even if law enforcement isn't.

Law enforcement agencies don't consider grammar Nazis to be real criminals.
