I'm having a problem embedding youtube tags using the youtubewide tag. The symptom is "that video does not exist". I use the whole url, fine. I use youtube/youtube (not the wide ones), fine. youtubewide doesn't work though.

Undertoad 08-13-2016 06:14 PM

try it now

Gravdigr 08-16-2016 03:22 PM

Works for me.

John Sellers 08-17-2016 02:35 AM

Would it be possible to add some kind of "Like" system to posts?

Sure, think about the post and decide if there is something of value you can add to the discussion and make a post of your own in response.

Undertoad 08-17-2016 07:42 AM

I really like what you've said there glatt.

glatt 08-17-2016 07:46 AM

Thanks, UT. I like what you said too.

Clodfobble 08-17-2016 10:19 AM

Boo!! I downvote both of you for petty, unrelated reasons. I want you to feel my disinterest on a personal level.

infinite monkey 08-17-2016 11:13 AM

Like buttons are, like, the bumper stickers of the intrawebz.

"Honk if you like my post!"

footfootfoot 08-17-2016 11:27 AM

If I want your approval or disapproval of my post(s) I'll beat it out of you. (Or beat it off on you, depending on what floats your boat)

Oh, and I like what all of you said but not clodfobble because I don't like chicks who aren't disinterested in me.

Gravdigr 08-17-2016 02:29 PM

I just posted a LiveLeak video over in the Aircraft thread.

It was a minor nightmare. Stuff I didn't put there kept showing up in the post. I usually have to delete their "read more at LiveLeak" thing that appears when you copy something from them, but this was more than that.

It was a genuine PITA.

That's not right, is it?

BigV 08-17-2016 02:31 PM

Depends on how tender your ass is.

It *could be* a false alarm.

I had a feeling this would be the reaction even as I posted the inquiry. Oh well, no biggie.

FTR, on a site like Twitter, the "heart" button is really useful. If someone likes your tweet, they can click or tap the heart button, and person who posted the tweet gets a notification, both by email (if chosen), and via Twitter's "Notifications" page...no actual reply necessary. The heart button also shows how many likes a tweet gets.

BigV 08-17-2016 04:40 PM

Content is king.

Not like levels.

John Sellers 08-17-2016 07:39 PM

Never said it wasn't.

monster 08-17-2016 08:37 PM

useful is in the brain of the beholder. For many, notifications of likes/dislikes etc are just another annoying thing you need to turn off. The Cellar is an alternative to Facebook and Twitter, not a poor relative that needs grooming to become a clone. If like farming is your thing, post there. If discussion is what you want, post here. You can always post "do you like what I said?" if you need to know. And there's no rule against posting the same thing on Facebook as here. You could always post on facebook first to test the water, and then here if it gets enough likes :D

I have found that folks here generally look for the positive, so if they enjoyed reading what you wrote, they will tell you about it and maybe start a discussion, and if they didn't, they'll just move on. Silence is very telling.

John Sellers 08-17-2016 10:35 PM

Alright. I get it. Nobody likes this idea. I shouldn't have asked.

BTW, I don't do Facebook, and Twitter is mostly just a pastime for me. Also, discussion isn't Twitter's main function. Otherwise, tweets wouldn't limited to 140 characters.

sexobon 08-17-2016 10:37 PM

.

John Sellers 08-17-2016 11:21 PM

Why is your post invisible?

sexobon 08-17-2016 11:51 PM

I was being very telling.

Shit. All this time I thought it was golden. That explains how I got caught and why I'm broke.

monster 08-19-2016 09:57 PM

Now then, no need to be so judgmental. Silence could be golden and telling. Or questioning. Let's be welcoming to all silences. Should we have a thread of silence to show support?

elSicomoro 08-20-2016 01:23 AM

Silence is golden; duct tape is silver.

Where is the quick reply function?

elSicomoro 08-29-2016 08:30 PM

Your fingers were a little too quick. Had to cut you off.

Hah!

sexobon 09-03-2016 10:04 AM

Has The Cellar become a hangout for students? Some people seem hell-bent on marketing to them here.

found it, right under where I'd collapsed it with that little double chevron button thingy. I'm guessing I've clicked it four times now. Once by accident hiding the box, once by discovery to reveal the box again, and one more pair to confirm my discovery.

All good now, thanks UT!

sexobon 09-03-2016 12:51 PM

Don't EVEN try dialing out on a Stargate. If you don't work those chevrons right, who knows where you'd end up!

As long as these "students" can think logically, and don't act like whiny little P'TAHKs, I have no problem with this.

Well, that was kinda random. :p:

ah sarcasm

BigV 09-03-2016 11:05 PM

....

I *am* grateful to you for making the cellar possible. I have a number of good friends here, and have had many many good experiences here too. My thanks are sincere, if a little random.

You did nothing to hide the quick reply box, you did nothing to reveal it. I can see how "thanks" might seem... Inappropriate. Thanks for fixing the button would be, but that's not what I did.

Thanks for the cellar. No sarcasm.

Carruthers 09-25-2016 04:43 AM

Notifications.

I have opted to receive instant Email notification for new posts in subscribed threads and PMs, yet I never receive any.
What am I doing wrong? Any ideas, please?

classicman 09-25-2016 07:24 AM

OK, trying to think of the easy stuff - Is this one of those threads? Current/correct email on file here? Did you log in to your email? I only get notifications for PM's and thats always worked here for me.

Thanks for your reply, Classic.
Yes, my Email address is up to date and Email is always on somewhere; phone, iPad or PC.
I opt for any thread where I have posted, to be added to the subscribed list but have never had a notification Email.
FWIW, It hasn't always been like this and I did opt out of receiving notifications a while back, but having opted back in a few months ago it has never worked since.

Undertoad 09-25-2016 11:39 AM

It turns out we are on a Hotmail block list, in their error. No email from The Cellar will reach Hotmail users at all.

I do not know how to remove us from this list. We are not in Spamhaus or anyone else's blacklist.

BTW this precludes us from taking any new users that try to set up with a hotmail.com email address

This is the error we get

sexobon 09-25-2016 11:39 AM

At the bottom of the Edit Options page, click on the Save Changes icon periodically and maybe you'll catch the system on a good day. :p:

I have an MSN email address and I don't get notifications I've opted for either.

Who you gonna call, MSN?

Thanks UT.

That's a bit of a nuisance to say the least.
Anyway, I now know where the problem is.

sexobon 09-25-2016 12:35 PM

UT, this report form is supposed to help with getting a domain on whitelist. Don't know if this is what you've already tried. I don't have the required info to try it myself:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...&wa=wsignin1.0

Undertoad 09-25-2016 01:07 PM

I've submitted, we'll see if that does anything

Just a couple of minutes ago I received two Email notifications of posts to subscribed threads so it appears to be working once more.
It's just like old times! Thanks UT!

ETA Make that three Emails.

Do you think boob pictures would help them look favorably on the Cellar? ;)

Undertoad 09-25-2016 03:02 PM

It simply cannot hurt.

John Sellers 09-29-2016 01:56 PM

I chose not to receive any Cellar emails. I just click "New Posts".

xoxoxoBruce 09-29-2016 02:56 PM

Me too.

Gravdigr 09-29-2016 03:25 PM

Me, too, neither.

Gravdigr 09-29-2016 03:25 PM

Sorry, I meant "Me, neither, too.".

Sorry, sorry urrbody.

sexobon 09-29-2016 05:22 PM

Did you mean "Sorry, urrbody, sorry."?

footfootfoot 09-29-2016 08:26 PM

What about our temerity, is that still unmitigated?
