Paperclip is for photo and paperclip earth, is for link. I think my firefox is being stoopid because IE works.

Undertoad 09-27-2013 12:53 PM

oh I thought you meant Cellar toolbar

Nirvana 09-27-2013 10:32 PM

I did mean the Cellar tool bar it won't work with my FF browser. My computer is obsolete...

Gravdigr 10-03-2013 02:42 PM

FF 14.0.1 here...No problems.

BigV 10-22-2013 12:02 PM

just curious, I have a working solution, since I'm posting, *but*...

why is it that "www.cellar.org" produces an error and "cellar.org" is fine? no double quotation marks, of course.

Undertoad 10-22-2013 12:25 PM

This question would be roughly infinitely easier to answer with the error message.

Undertoad 10-22-2013 12:42 PM

Never mind. It would appear that our domain name provider is having a bad day and is unable to resolve our name.

We will be moving off of the shitty Network Solutions as soon as possible.

sexobon 11-03-2013 07:36 PM

Does the Cellar have any time capsule threads, containing things like predictions for the Cellar's/dwellars' future(s), that were taken off the public board to be made public again on a specified date (perhaps during its 25th anniversary)?

Undertoad 11-03-2013 10:22 PM

No

sexobon 12-28-2013 04:52 PM

According to this: http://cellar.org/faq.php, the moderators' current term ran out back in January of this year. Apparently they've been on a month to month basis since then. They don't seem to be causing any trouble; so, maybe the next term could run through 1/1/2015 hmmmm?

Undertoad 12-28-2013 05:40 PM

Yeah either that or B: I forgot to update the FAQ.

xoxoxoBruce 12-29-2013 06:39 AM

Anyone else having trouble opening the humor thread in tapatalk?

glatt 01-09-2014 12:00 PM

I've been having some trouble opening some recent threads in tapatalk. Can't remember which one(s.)

And sometime when the signal is weak and I start to open a thread, it craps out on me and doesn't load, but the thread is marked as read. So I have to remember to go back to it later. Tapatalk has been annoying like that lately. I'd guess it has a 5% failure rate for me.

lumberjim 01-09-2014 12:16 PM

just that one thread for me. dunno what I did to it.

Undertoad 01-09-2014 12:20 PM

I have that issue too.

xoxoxoBruce 01-09-2014 02:03 PM

Is it because I stuck a youtube video in there, which is unusual? If so, yank it.

sexobon 01-10-2014 09:35 PM

The moderator election thread poll says "This poll will close on 01-11-2014 at 06:41 PM"

YOU say "The vote will be open for five days, ending at approx. 11:59 am EST Jan. 10. (Or whenever I notice time is up.)"

The moderator nomination thread said "Nominations will close at 11:59 pm

January 10; or, 11?
6:41; or, 11:59?
AM; or PM?

I was gonna ask these questions; but, then I remembered you're over 50 now ... so ... nevermind:

Old geezer.

Tapatalk updated and is now useless. Uninstalled.

limey 01-17-2014 03:37 PM

It's ok on my iPad.

There were lots of reviews about the same problem on the app store page. they apparently broke it.

I'll give it a few days and check, but don't do the current update if you have not yet. The icon changed to an orange lower case t.

That's the version I've got on the iPad. The new one. Works fine. Same on the phone (samsung galaxy S3).

They fixed it today.

sexobon 01-23-2014 12:22 AM

IIRC, there seems to have been more new members listed at the bottom of the main index page with actual female names than actual male names. It also seems that often neither shows up in the forums. Is there a predominant reason why?

Undertoad 01-23-2014 02:27 PM

2/3rds of all new accounts turn out to be spammers from Asia. They use western names in order to seem legitimate. I suppose they chose female names because they have more success with them.

Molasar 01-23-2014 03:00 PM

not just e-spammers.
having worked as a manager in telesales in Britain with a workforce of almost all from the Indian subcontinent with typical names, they almost all adopted Western aliases.
bloody weird listening to your employee called Virender or Darmesh speaking in a heavily Indo-Pakistani accent and saying his name is Vincent or Danny.

Clodfobble 01-23-2014 04:20 PM

I openly laughed at one once--not a telemarketer, I just hang up on them, but a customer service number I had called.

He said, "My name is Steve,"
and I involuntarily snorted and said, "No it's not!"
I wish so much that he had taken me up on it and told me his real name, but he just cowered and said, "Ah, uh, er--how may I help you ma'am?"

At the top right of the banner there is an old typewriter.

It's surely been a long time since that banner was made but might someone know what make and model that typewriter is?

I'm looking for pics and info on that exact typewriter so that I might model it in Maya for use in a Cellar video.

Pictures would be most helpful but the make and model would be helpful too. Maybe there are some detailed images on the net of it somewhere.

Does anyone have any info on this?

Molasar 01-25-2014 12:20 AM

you could try this:
http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=roy...d=0CAsQsAQ#i=7

or just google Royal typewriter for more pics.
I'm not convinced it's the same model, but our banner one has a family resemblance to Royal (as opposed to other makes like Remington for example)

xoxoxoBruce 01-25-2014 02:05 AM

It may be an "artist's interpretation" too.

slang 01-25-2014 02:26 AM

Perfect.

This is the one from the banner, IMO. Pretty close if not THE one.

Thanks for the info Molasar.

When the details get too complicated to add to the model, I'll use the "artist's interpretation" Bruce.

Molasar 01-25-2014 05:52 PM

no worries, just so happen to have worked with a Royal for 5 years during last century so i was pretty sure, though wasn't sure about how the picture on our banner had been edited

what? another live one? ;)

incidentally the Royal I worked with was a dumb machine that did fuck all until you pushed its buttons. and I had a typewriter as well.

changing the subject, I cut this out of Down at the pawn shop #967

I make very little delineation between my Cellar family and my family of choice/lifelong friends IRL. In fact, in some ways, the Cellar is better, because it is like being involved with people in a near literary manner.

I agree.
And the sex is better too. :lol2:

Hey UT, how about on Valentine's Day you change the banner from a Royal typewriter to a Chicago typewriter:

Molasar 01-27-2014 05:57 AM

... or a gusset typewriter ?

Missing apostrophe and ellipsis. Should be "One (re)members..." Kids today.

Clodfobble 06-21-2014 07:02 AM

How long have the IoTD threads had star ratings?

Undertoad 06-21-2014 09:38 AM

Couple of years. It was announced at some point, I think it went in with the tags.

Clodfobble 06-21-2014 10:48 AM

Goddamn I'm oblivious.

Wait, what?

infinite monkey 06-22-2014 10:06 AM

I didn't notice the ratings either. So, to experiment, I rated the Bran Castle thread (4 stars, bravo!) and now when I look at the entire IotD listing, there are a few that have the star ratings and most don't. The Bran Castle that I rated has no stars. I thought maybe the stars only show up if someone has rated that particular entry. When I cursor-hover over the ones with stars, the least amount of ratings I've found is 3. Maybe they don't show up until they've had at least 3 people vote?

lumberjim 06-22-2014 07:55 PM

I don't think Tapatalk supports star ratings

fargon 06-23-2014 11:47 AM

Where are the ratings on IOTD? I'm using Chrome does that make a difference? I'm so confused I don't know what to do.

Hey, do you pay for it or use the free version? This is the first time I've ever used it (free), and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
