As of this afternoon I am unemployed. Got the whole 'finish your charts speedily so that we don't have to hang around too long waiting to make sure you don't smash your computer or steal the 99 cent wreath hanger you hang your coat on or otherwise sabotage this pathetic windowless closet we gave you to work in, now that we've announced we're ditching you after sucking you dry for a year' 30 second talk by the glaring VP of HR who's always in a bad mood after spending the morning in court with his ex; but he couldn't stop me from hugging the staff on my way out, and he couldn't stop them from being shocked or weeping. Then the humiliating escort out to my car as if - what? I'm turning 56. What am I going to do?
I guess I posted here because I hope something will get better but it's too soon to tell |
Fucking fuckety fuck. Sorry doc. :(
|
Is this their attempt to make sure they don't get taken through a wringer for the privacy breaches?
|
I suspect that and retaliation for asking about some questionable things that occurred while I was on medical leave. Also retaliation for taking medical leave.
|
That sux doc.
|
Room for a lawsuit? :(
|
Fuckers
|
Wait why are we sad for this, isn't this a good thing? I thought you hated working there, your co workers treated you like shit. Now you get to have a fresh start somewhere else.
|
And sue the fockers, no?
Sent by thought transference |
Yes, I plan to sue these people in as many ways as are available to me.
But no, traceur, this is not a good thing. These are not good people, and they took pains to make yesterday painful and humiliating. As for the bigger picture, being fired throws several wrenches in the works. |
With the way they've been fucking with you, it shouldn't be a complete surprise. But you probably didn't notice the whispering because you were too goddamn busy trying to do a good job, eh. And maybe one or two personal things to think about too.
You can lay out the whole thing on the table as fair and impartially as you can, hoping your prospective future employer will accept that in lieu of a recommendation. But I fear they would freak out, lawyers, federal violations, drama, we want no parts of this. Alternatively, you could present some of the facts, making you look pretty good and them a little unreasonable(rather than the complete dicks they are), wrapped in a little chocolate to make it easier to swallow. You know, just enough to get by the recommendation thing, but not reveal the possible nuclear explosion to come. Hmm, you could also... no, not you, no way, you're too nice... nevermind. ;) |
Damn sorry Doc... Keep your head up, paste a smile on that pretty face & breathe. Somehow this will work out. It always does.
|
btw are you an actual orthodontist?

I wasn't sure what thread to put this in, so I chose this one.
I'm about to quit my job - today is the day. Its been a total grind full of headbutting and incredibly idiotic decisions by management which I am uncomfortable with ethically and which impaired my ability to earn a reasonable living. So, I found another oppty where I am getting a much increase base and have infinitely more potential income without the layers of stupid at the old place. I'm sad in that I really like my immediate supervisor and I'm now leaving him in the lurch. I'm also going to miss working with one of my best friends - the guy who recommended me for the position in the first place. I'm also nervous as hell leaving a known entity for a start-up. I'm really fucked if this doesn't work out. Dreading making the call... |
You can do it!!!!
|
Exciting, classicman!
You go, man! Seriously. |
Having just done this, part of it is the fantasizing about how it will go, huh?
I'm gonna walk right in there and tell them what idiots they are -- -- and how dumb this whole thing is and how my future isn't going to be dumb -- -- and -- -- and not burn any bridges, because why piss anyone off? You never know what night happen in the future. Blow steam off at the Cellar, that's what we're all here for. |
thanks guys ....
Did it over the phone. My immediate supervisor was destroyed. "Are you serious? Tell me you're just fucking with me. You gotta be kidding me, right?" Literally thats what he said. When I told him tat I was done today - no two weeks notice... He asked WTF why would you do that to me. I responded with I know the way things have gone in the past - I'm done. Clean break. This is hard enough for me as it is. We talked for about 10 minutes about accounts and why ... Told him I thought highly of him and ... Its done. |
Ah man - must have been a tough call then. Well done, mate.
|
Good luck man. You've got to take care of yourself cuz who else will?
|
Zactly Griff. Like I said this is a HUGE risk for me and that makes me uncomfortable.
Gotta work myself through it. |
Yabut over the phone? No pie in the face? No trash cans on fire? No film at 11? :haha:
Good move, good luck. |
Thanks Bruce. The call was out of respect for him. Otherwise I would have sent an email.
|
I really hope this works out for you, c-man. I'm sort of halfway looking for greener pastures, just due to the fact that having two part-time jobs has been more difficult than I expected and no bennies, and Ithe occurso to me we both have been searching for those pastures for a while. Keep us posted on how it's going.
|
Jebus I hate posting from a fucking phone.
|
^lol - yup I can't do it from my phone either.
Thanks - hope you find something soon. As for me, I'm unemployed for the next two weeks. Went to the Iggles game last night with 2 of my kids (lost my voice there somewhere) and today I'm being a lazy ass & enjoying every second too. |
Corrupt files!
I wanted to back up a 32GB memory card onto an external drive, and since it was likely to take a long time, I figured I would do it in the background here at work while doing other stuff. So I brought the memory card and reader into work. Started the copy process, and a bunch of errors started popping up that files couldn't be read, and then when I went to go look at my files on the memory card, they weren't there. This was 4 months worth of pictures. 7000+ images (I think? I don't really know.) So I flipped the switch on the side of the card to make it read only and downloaded a free recovery program (PhotoRec) and started running it. It seems to be working, but it's naming the recovered files in naming scheme I can't figure out, and they are all jumbled up in the recovery folder. So that's making me a tad apprehensive. Trying to reorganize 7000+ pictures may be a real chore. They seem to still have a time stamp on them, so I think I can sort them chronologically, but I'm not sure yet since the program is still recovering stuff and I don't want to play with the destination folders too much. |
NSA :eyeball::eyeball:

The koolaid drinkers in the two major parties. I don't see the GOP choosing someone who can actually govern. The Dems don't get that Hillary isn't trusted so won't considered by independents. Bush and Clinton are both party establishment insider candidates who are unattractive to the over-all electorate. The other GOP candidates appear to be simply terrible people. I don't see an optimistic message coming from anybody. This country has a great strength in its diverse people but the two old parties don't mobilize that.
|
On the other hand, the two parties in Congress FINALLY showed that they can do their jobs by passing a two year budget. It's not the budget I would have made, but at least they came up with it together.
|
There is that.

This has made clear that I need to do some image organization. Haven't done any since 2013. My system had been to create folders for each date that I took pictures and drag those pictures into those folders. But I haven't done that since mid 2013 and all the images since then are scattered all over in folders I've given random names to. I must still have a copy of everything somewhere, but can't be sure until I see it all organized. |

I'm making this anon...in the case of just in cases.
Mostly I need to get this out because I am so nervous I can barely keep from barfing. I have a job interview today with a place I used to work. A bit 'less' than my old job but better I think in terms of responsibilities. I like both my jobs now but between the two my schedule is crazy and I'm so tired of being tired. And I need health insurance. So I wonder if they're just giving me a courtesy interview. I left there on good terms so I figure it's either a courtesy interview (like trying to get a significant other to take you back after you left them) or they're happy because there will be so much less training. I'm trying to just look at it as "I have a job(s) either way" but I'm more nervous than I've been for an interview in a long time. Every detail is making me ill. Even, IF for some reason it worked out, how to tell them here. Because I know of one person who will be pretty darn unhappy with me. But it's my life right? No one has come forward to share my life and all the expenses and troubles therein...I have to look out for myself. Right? |
Your schedule is the crazy right now. And you absolutely need to look out for yourself on this.
|
Good luck, anon. It absolutely is your life and you have to do what you have to do. If your current job needs you that bad, they can pay you to stay.
|
You have to look after yourself, anon, for sure. Good luck! X
Sent by thought transference |
You're doing the right thing. No one rational would stay in a job that is worse for them simply for the sake of the employer's feelings. Like glatt said, if they really want you to stay that badly they will make a counter-offer.
