Shawnee123 02-21-2009 01:47 PM

If there are no "new" posts, it says something like "to view threads from the last 24 hours click here."

Then I see the posts in chronological order.

Right now I have 8 posts to choose from when I click new posts. The heading reads:

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts. which is what I used to see under posts that came after "new" posts. And in this case, those threads have been updated since my last visit because they are the new posts.

Ugh, wish I could screen shot.

xoxoxoBruce 02-21-2009 01:52 PM

Sounds like a cookie problem.

Shawnee123 02-21-2009 01:56 PM

I just checked cookie settings on my computer. It's set to "medium" and I haven't changed anything.

xoxoxoBruce 02-21-2009 02:03 PM

I think that "to view threads from the last 24 hours click here" line is what you get when you're not logged in. That makes me suspect a cookie problem?

Shawnee123 02-21-2009 02:04 PM

It's weird. I noticed it yesterday at my work computer too.

Undertoad 02-21-2009 02:41 PM

I'm sure it's a cookie thing. That's what you get when you're logged out, too.

classicman 02-21-2009 03:15 PM

....or there are no new posts to view. I think it defaults to
"To view threads from the last 24 hours click here."

Shawnee123 02-21-2009 03:37 PM

But what I'm saying is that it didn't USED to...for me.

No big deal...just wondered what had changed.

Maybe you need to put the cookies on a higher rack and rotate the cookie sheet when they are halfway done.
You could try that.

Shawnee123 02-21-2009 03:43 PM

Rotate this cookie sheet!

Sundae 02-21-2009 03:49 PM

Too much salt in your cookies.
I understand.
So does Limey.

Why is this? Because of the shape of the element or because its colder near the door?

What did it used to say, when you had already read everything new and you clicked on "New Posts?"

Oh, wait, I think I understand. You used to have a whole bunch of other threads listed that were older, that had not been updated since your last login but "still contained unread posts," right? But you never read those, you just left them down there in the list, right? After awhile, they get too old, the system just automatically marks them as "read."

HungLikeJesus 02-22-2009 09:58 AM

And I think the colors have changed, particularly in the left column where the user information is, and in quote boxes. I'm using The Cellar vBulletin 3 Style.

Undertoad 02-22-2009 10:01 AM

Geez if you think things are changing now when I'm not really doing anything to the site, imagine what you'll think when we UPGRADE

Shawnee123 02-22-2009 10:48 AM

Be gentle, that's all I ask. ;)

classicman 03-24-2009 02:35 PM

Is the recoded post time off by an hour or is it my computer?

capnhowdy 03-24-2009 06:47 PM

Mine 2

monster 03-24-2009 06:56 PM

Mine's just fine

capnhowdy 03-24-2009 07:03 PM

It's 2002 hrs here.

monster 03-24-2009 07:12 PM

and it says you posted that at 8:03PM.

Come to think of it... I vaguely remember resetting the time in my user CP to combat this problem.....

monster 03-24-2009 07:14 PM

ok my settings are correct. EST automatic correction for DST. maybe that makes it right and it'll go wrong for me whenthe old DST start date passes.... :?

YEAH.....like THAT'LL ever happen

Undertoad 03-24-2009 08:29 PM

I have the software, I'm just afraid to use it!

It means updating all the things I've changed

lumberjim 03-24-2009 10:22 PM

-5 for being a poose

xoxoxoBruce 03-25-2009 12:52 AM

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :thepain:

Pie 03-25-2009 09:03 AM

Yah, I've got to migrate my site to the latest version of Wordpress. I'm effin' scared of massively screwing it up! :worried:

How the hell are the computer companies (not to mention consumer electronics) supposed to make any money when you have an attitude like that??

xoxoxoBruce 03-25-2009 09:09 AM

With all the shit that IS broke.

Happy Monkey 03-25-2009 11:38 AM

They also have to plan for future business, and break the stuff that isn't.

Shawnee123 06-18-2009 06:25 AM

I have always wondered about this:

Was something going on that day?

Clodfobble 06-18-2009 08:24 AM

Some IotD was linked on Fark/Digg/Reddit. I think that one in particular was the Air Force base that got filled with emergency foam?

DanaC 06-18-2009 08:59 AM

Huh huh....she said foam...

glatt 06-18-2009 09:08 AM

The foam was a year before. I think UT said that when the Cellar changed hosts, the records got reset. I think the foam was even more people.

AMEN!! I hate it when you go to a site that has been "updated", and you have to go looking all over for the log out/in buttons, and the other stuff they change for no 'apparent' reason. What really gets me is when they change the name of some feature or content, without telling you, so that, when you go looking for it, you feel lost as hell.

Shawnee123 07-01-2009 06:52 PM

I accidentally missed a w and typed ww.cellar.org and got a blank page with the word Guh in the upper right corner. I thought that was weird.

Clodfobble 07-01-2009 07:16 PM

Nice. That must be new, because I know I've mistyped the address in exactly that way before.

Undertoad 07-01-2009 08:17 PM

Guh is the default page for the server. Any address not configured will return that.

lumberjim 07-01-2009 08:19 PM

why isn't it 'cock'?

Undertoad 07-01-2009 08:22 PM

my standard word instead of ur standard word

lumberjim 07-01-2009 08:25 PM

are you trying to say it's not all about me? cuz that's just crazy talk.

Shawnee123 07-02-2009 07:37 AM

Well, I don't know much about the intrawebz (I mean, I know it's a series of tubes) but I would think that if the www wasn't right it wouldn't go anywhere.

That's interesting, UT. I sort of found a Cellar Easter Egg!

Clodfobble 07-02-2009 09:28 AM

It only goes somewhere because UT has put something there (a Guh page.) Most sites will automatically resolve to the www. address if you just type it in without it (like http://cnn.com, for example.) But not everyone takes the time and effort to do that. UT just loves us, that's all.

Shawnee123 07-02-2009 09:30 AM

OK, I see what you're saying.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny.

:)

Flint 07-10-2009 01:25 PM

How can I search for the "quote of the day" thread? The word "quote" is omitted, and the remaining words are too short to register.

I just wanted to post this:

dar512 07-10-2009 01:35 PM

Here's the thread: http://cellar.org/showthread.php?t=9799

Sometimes it's easier to google:

site:cellar.org "quote of the day"

Use the above including quotes. It tells google to limit itself to the cellar and search the entire string between the quotes.

Flint 07-10-2009 01:48 PM

Well, why didn't I think of that? Thanks. And just the other day I was saying how I never use a stie's internal search engine.

lumberjim 07-11-2009 01:49 PM

I've tried using them, but don't seem to have the touch. I end up with an empty preview box...

Help?

lumberjim 07-11-2009 02:33 PM

paste it, highlight it, hit the youtube button

Glinda 07-11-2009 02:55 PM

Coolio! Thanks LJ!

I can't find what they're all looking at!

Shawnee123 07-21-2009 09:20 AM

Yeah, that's odd. I went through the list, about 7 or 8 threads, and saw no one in any of them!

Clodfobble 07-21-2009 09:29 AM

Could be an old archived thread somewhere.

Undertoad 07-21-2009 10:46 AM

The Bush twins are in the news again.

Shawnee123 07-21-2009 11:20 AM

Oh...hahahaa. I wondered! Thanks. :)

Shawnee123 07-24-2009 01:02 PM

Why has the curmudgeon factor increased so much as of late, even among the youngers?

And get the HELL OFF MY LAWN.

Seriously, some of y'all act like you're about 90. :bitching:

SteveDallas 07-24-2009 01:09 PM

I was born curmudgeonly.

Shawnee123 07-24-2009 01:13 PM

Nah, you're alright. Oh hey, I'm a cynic, don't get me wrong...

I just try not to be an crotchety old fart before I'm 80.
